Hi All,
Just got my new LCR, but the radio code is missing, Rocky Rocastle is going to have a look at home for it.
But if he cannot find anybody know how to get one, other than paying SEAT???

cheers

There are companies that can de-code them, i know of a place in birmingam who did the aura in my car as it has a sticker on the unit its self and a sticker with code on there with there address on. I can get the number tmorrow?

You can call seat and they will ask for vin number and they can then find it and give it to you. I did this and they did not charge me but I have heard others saying that their dealer charged for it. It just depends who you talk to and what mood they are in. I called seat Swindon and they were sound, got back to me within the hour with radio code.

There are websites that can do it IF it's available. Seat only keep the records for 5 years I think it is, and mine is 7 years old, so there was no record. I tried a few dealers to be sure. As a result, I had to pay to have mine scanned (or whatever) and unlocked. At least they gave it to me mind you, and I recorded it in the manual!

For the amount of trouble you'll go to for a 3rd party to do it you might as well remove the radio and take down the 14 digit serial number (starts with "SEZ2Z---------") and the chassis number (17 digits and can be found on the passenger side at the bottom of the windscreen) Phone the dealer and they can get it within minutes and would charge you £15 at the very most.

What used to happen was you gave the service department the chassis number and serial number and they requested the details from seat spain - this has now changed and what happens is the technicians obtain the chassis and serial number which is the entered into the vas 5051b, this is connected via Btak server to the Geko files in wolfsburg in gemany and it instantly relays the code back onto the diagnostic machine.

OK, fair enough. As I say, I was just told that back in April/May I think it was. I think I ended up paying £30 for it to be unlocked. None of these websites that say that they have Seat data had a copy either

They made them more readily available to the technicians because lets face it - they're the people who need them when taking out radios, disconnecting batteries etc.

it doesnt matter if its been changed as long as you provide the serial number off the side of the radio thats fitted to the car at the time then you'll get the code for that unit.

You said you need the chassis number too, but that won't be matched to the radio, but like you say take in both and it should be fine.

Its a piece of info that the diag machine requests when sending the request through, these are the rest:

Chassis number
Serial number
Customers name
Customers country of origin
Job Number

Progressive Parts, performance parts and tuning specialists
