Thinking of getting a mk3 leon FR next year. Wanting to do a few mods including lowering. Anyone got any opinion on lowering springs? Read in a few places that if you use them with the standard shocks it reduces the life of the shock. Do the FRs not have better shocks which will be more compatible with lowering springs compared to standard leons? Dont have the money for coilovers. thanks.

FRs are already lowered by 15 mm so the dampers are probably optimised for that figure. Not sure what effect further lowering would have.

Lower springs just cause the shocks to work in a different range of their travel. If they don't bottom out they should be fine.
But, the dampers are optimised for a given spring rate. They may be underdamped for lower springs.
Personally, I wouldn't bother.
