The map updates for the Mib2 High / Seat Plus for 2018/19 can now be downloaded from the Skoda site

http://infotainment-cdn.skoda-auto.com/base/maps/HIGH12_P169_EU_2018_2019.zip

The next release will be 2019 in November in this series. Different VAG brands release at slightly different times but the two sets of files for the respective units (standard / plus (high)) are the same. Two different models, standard and high, two different uploads.

No news on the Mib2 standard release yet.

Installation, discussion on Mapcare etc see the thread for the last release:

Post 1041. You don't have to clear the "errors" thou, most don't. Ignore that it's written for a Mac user. 7Zip is the VAG recommended unpacking tool for zip files.

The workaround of the non provision of Mapcare in some Seat markets has been around for the standard Mib2 for nearly two years now. Some of the early documentation on that thread has steps in it that aren't required but were considered at the time to be required as the people behind the method were not sure of which bits needed altering.

Step 8 is the all important one on the guide above plus a full back up just in case you need to re install and for peace of mind. You can't use another SD card than the original in the cut down method. People get themselves into trouble when they start to be clever in trying to use cards they already have.

Why you can use the Skoda site is that there are two mainstreams on the VAG Mib2 navigation, standard and high (Seat Plus). There are only two releases across the whole VAG group (standard and high), twice a year (June and November). Within the release it identifies which VAG brand you have. Only the built in Poi's are twigged to shows Seat, Skoda, VW brands etc to customise to the brand. Although the releases are for June and November sometimes they are loaded up on servers early whilst the respective brands are sometimes late at putting them up / roll back the release even thou it's ready. That's about it.

The workaround only works for Mib2 Standard SD card based systems. If you don't see 6P on the first line when you do the navigation release check, don't do it, you don't have a Mib2 Standard. If Mib1 shown by 5F on the navigation check it corrupts the card if you try to do a map update without Mapcare... A few do it and dig a hole for themselves. All Ateca's are Mib2. The mod isn't for the Plus navigation on these. I have documented a part update for that. Post 699
