yeah, my first gear is occasionally difficult to engage but it's getting better as it gears worn in a bit, some times it'll slot straight in really nicely.
Same with second at times it'll be a right bitch, usually when i really don't want it to be  both are getting better though

Night Flight, i noticed you had a few problems with noises in you steering column, can you tell me a bit about them?, i have some noises too, like cracks from plastic.

yeah, mine's a squeaking noise when i go over bumpy or potholed roads (most roads in sheffield) definitely not a cracking noise though.

I had it looked at a fortnight ago and the mechanic adjusted the cowling (i assume that's the plastic cover round the steering column?) and it stopped for a bit, but it's back now. Gonna get it back in because the squeak makes it feel like a really old car when it's not, it's 3 months old.

At a guess i'd say yours is a similar problem to mine, but whereas mine is just rubbing and squeaking along the joins, yours is flexing and cracking?

No mate, the same...squeaking annoying sound. like when you rub your finger on a plastic.
so the problem is in the metal parts or plastic covering?

i think it's the plastic.

When it starts, put your hand through the top of the steering wheel and pull backwards on the top of the cover (there's a raised section you can get a grip on) and that should stop it if it's the problem i had

Nope, not working... the squeaking is coming further in the dash, behind the figures.

Does any body know how to remove the silver trim?
