MIB1 upgrade options

Hi all,
Just picked up a 2014 Cupra 280 last week, and trying to get my head around the headhunt and upgrade options.

I've got a non-nav MIB1 by the looks of it.

What are my options to put nav into this and upgrade to MIB2? I'm a bit confused from some of the threads.

I'm not too pushed with CarPlay, but if that was an option I wouldn't mind looking at it.

I've done RNS510 upgrades on my old Mk5 GTI before, so don't mind routing GPS bits if needed.

Thanks,
Tom

Sure it can be done.
Here in Poland you would manage it with parts and labour for about 500-600 pounds.

Basically, you need to find an unlocked MIB2 unit (component protection off) then you ready for retrofit. You have to change MDI port for new USB if you fancy have a Carplay. One of the screen connectors needs to be bit adjusted (cut). And some programming on new MIB2. And if you don't have NAv need to get new GPS module

That sounds straightforward enough. Where the threads have me confused is - patching certain part numbers and vendors of MIB2 only, and then what looks like dealer only FeC bits?

Unfortunately, the dealer isn't able to activate second hand MIB unit. Only brand new bought from them.

I would suggest trying these people, they sometimes have Seat units as well as the ones on eBay at the moment.

yes probably me there is an alpine unit but it does not support traffic recognition or seat sound. so there are lots of head units but you need to understand fully what it supports on the car and what you loose

The alpine specifically says it does support the menus but obviously not in the same way as the car. But its not a cheap option I seem to recall is was something like 1400 fitted.

IIRC thought the alpine was for MK5 Golf chassis not MQB which uses a different electrics system again.

No they do one specifically for the MQB, On the Golf you can go with an even bigger screen but i think the leon was limited to 7".

However as above it don't support two key things that I still wanted.

So on my curpa I can change the DCC Settings between Comfort, Sport, Cupra and Individual. For Individual I can go in and change each of the parameters. Under Car and Settings I can reset the Typre Pressure system that will alert me to a slow leak, Under Car and Settings I can do factory reset on many of the cars functions (Windows, Lights etc), I can turn on and off the way the DRL Work, the rear windscreen wiper works etc. Does it support Seat Sound system and Traffic Recognition. Does it support all of these functions. I am not saying its does not its just previous reviews have said you get a great head unit and some connectivity to the Steering wheel controls but not the above.

I obviously have no Cupra mode (wished i had), but everything else works as you mentioned, including individual mode. Tyre pressure, factory reset, DRL, car functions all work fine, and, from the picture i have seen, exactly the way Seat head units do. The only glitch i have found is that when i tried to alter the comfort signals to flashing 5 times instead of 3 and i was supposed to do a factory reset through HU to get it working, it didn't work (although i confirmed that the settings where back to factory after reset - drls, ch and lh etc). It also has Navigation (you can chose which program you want to use - i got it with iGO Primo and tested many until i choose Sygic) and Bluetooth which works flawlessly.

The major drawback of this Android HU is the quality of sound - it simply is not what i am used to.
