Hi guys
Just wanted to know if my Ibiza 1.9 tdi fr 130 (2005) is too high of a mileage to start modifying it's got 155k on but it has full service history and cam belt has been changed twice.

Thanks a lot

how long's a piece of string? you have little to go on but the full service history --if it's had regular (12 monthly/10-12 thou) oil changes as opposed to stupid VAG ("it only needs 2 year/18000 miles "SIR"") changes you have a chance, but I wouldn't go more than a mild tune if at all as you are just exacerbating existing wear and tear as things like injectors if not replaced are getting tired @£500 each ?new it soon could look expensive

Thanks for reply, yeah it's had oil changes every year. Is there any modifications to injectors? I.e. Bigger ones or out of different cars? The modifications I was thinking of was re-map, seat sport FMIC, and brakes upgrade

Coin toss to be honest, you're normally better off buying one already done and then add to individualise it. The Seat Sport intercooler are now old hat so you'd be looking at the Darkside Developments or THS ones. Main limitation will then be the turbo, Xman on Briskoda forums does good deals if you want to make full use of the FMIC.

I thought about buying one already done but I want to be able to say I did that I made that into what it is. What's the difference between the airtec intercoolers and the darkside development ones? Besides the massive price increase.

Darkside claim a slightly larger core size than the Airtec system, not 100% sure about this as I've not had eyes on The Darkside kit. The Airtec is good enough and people have been running them on high power setups.

I would personally buy one already done (as the price to get to a good setup isn't cheap) then personalise it from there. Unless you have money to throw away at the car and never see it again?

Come to think of it, sounds familiar...

Can't take the money with you, might aswell spend it while you can enjoy it. Yeah think I will be running airtec, what else have you done to yours badger?

That's incredible work, really impressive sleeper you've got. How much coin has it set you back then? Is it just standard suspension or is it lowered in anyway?

That's not too bad then tbh was expecting something more expensive. Lol yeah I know what you mean don't think mine will see another owner after I've started modifying

I managed to DIY alot and/or source parts cheap/used but in good condition. My suspension is standard except Poly console bushes.

Always better DIY if you know what your doing, will definitely be looking for decent second hand parts to keep the price down. Probly a stupid question but you've got the 312mm brake upgrades from the Audi did you have any trouble with alloys fitting over them? I've just got 16" on they'll fit alright won't they I won't need wheel spacers or anything like that?

I think that's where I'm going to start with mine brakes upgrade and stage 1 remap. Then see where I go from there.
