just a quick update, the photos probably wont show anything really... but the carbs now have a fuel supply, engine is all wired up, most of the plumbing is done with the use of a mix of honda accord coolant hoses and mk1 and mk2 hoses... engine is mounted on all its mounts now, throttle cable all set up ready, clutch cable is almost there ( i lost a bit :( ) so all in all a good day :)

just need to figure out how to defeat the shoddy immobiliser it has and sort something for a downpipe and were laughing

and then prepare for the 10-15mpg at best :)
there will most deffinitely be videos when its done ;)

You would be suprised. I had R1 carbs running on my old Mk1 golf. It was a 2.0 16v with ported head and it made 185 BHP at the flywheel. I was getting low 20's around town but with a light foot I could reach 30mpg on a run.

Just got to make sure they are set up correctly on a rolling road by someone who knows what they are doing.

Good luck with the build. You will love it once set up, the trottle response is unbelievable.

Well i built the conversion downpipe and adapted the existing system to fit today and it fits spot on no rattles, exhaust note is awesome so a very pleasing few hours :D

Pics of the downpipe:

lugs cut off the old flange and pipes cut too. Over sized pipes welded to the bottom of the flange at an angle to suit the existing system...

Because i moved the whole system backwards to fit the flange, i had to take a bit of length out of the centre section, fairly easy to do with a piece of over sized tubing to slot over the front pipe :)
