I'm wondering what the average full tank range is Mk3 Cupra owners.
I have a 15 plate 280 st dsg and get around 220 miles to a full tank, city driving, spirited occasionally ;)
I have a friend with a 15 plate 280 st manual and he gets around 340 to a tank. Again mainly city and as he puts it, occasionally lively.
What is others average as I want to know if mine is just being greedy.

    16 plate cupra 280 ST
280 miles before the fuel light comes on. Could probably squeeze 310-330 miles out of it.
90-100 miles a day, mix of NSL and spirited country roads with some roadworks and villages.
Always left in cupra mode and S in DSG unless cruising on the dual carriageway.

I got about 320 out of it when I done the west coast when I first got it. Then the garage took it to get serviced as they forgot to do so before they sold it (hmmmm) and since I got it back the average has taken a dive.

    I get about 300-350 in my 2016 290, and it’s stage 2. That’s a mix of 80% motorway, 5% A roads and 15% pot hole avoidance.

220 to a tank is terrible! Either you're caning it everywhere or there is an issue somewhere. Even city driving I get over 300 and regularly get 400 without much effort.

I only get about 250-270 per tank. I do a short 4 mile commute to work of dual carriageways mainly but with one long steep hill to climb on the way home. Few roundabouts involved and I have a tendency to enjoy the acceleration out of them .

only picked mine up yesterday, regularly saw 700Km / 435ish miles out of a tank on a diesel vRS, that was driven sensibly the majority of the time on a generally slow moving commute during the week, with some longer weekend trips. Will be very interested to see how far the Cupra ST 4Drive goes on a tank, but I wont be measuring the first tank!

230-240 miles City (London) slow 20mph driving, speedhum, redlights, traffic.
Best was 350 miles Motorway with still 7L left in tank, coming back from Europe, occasionally hitting 100mph+

not driving sensibly, accelerate as fast as I can most of the time :)

Typically 280 a tank but my commute isn’t huge.

Cold starts and running seem to reduce the fuel economy a fair bit.

A long drive to Norwich their eand back I’ll comfortsbly get 350-360 miles from the tank.

My worst is 210 miles but that was in the first week of ownership :D running Tesco 99. Tesco 99 seems to be rubbish for fuel economy on this car (was great on the MINI) Sure someone on here said Tesco 99 runs badly as well.

V power is all that goes in it now.

I am from around Norwich too but don't yet have the ST.

Is it a requirement of the Cupra 300 that it has to be run on Vpower (or equivalent) or can it be run on standard unleaded?

Edit - not from Norwich, from Bolton, just have to drive to Norwich for family.

It’ll run on cheaper fuel but I’d argue it’s a false economy.

I’m willing to be told otherwise, but my understanding of RON has always been that the higher the RON the more stable th fuel.

Therefore the 99RON petrol is less likely to go bang at the wrong point in the engine cycle compared with 95. Not sure how the Americans cope otherwise 91 :O

If the car is running hot it will dump extra fuel into the chamber to help cool it. So if the engine is running hot due to crap fuel it uses more to cool it down.

Willing to be told al the above is bollocks though.

So if you plan on driving your car with some beans, stick to 98+.

If you don’t plan or giving your car some beans, why did you buy a Cupra?

Sorry for not being a MK3 Cupra guy but I find it strange why my MK2 Cupra R (Stock - V Power) does between 320-400 miles to a tank with short 2 mile trips to work if it's shit weather and the 400+ if I do a 2 hour drive up north, it seems a few of you are getting 280 ish...

I do like to give it a little seeing to every so often but I by no means drive like a learner driver. Does the extra 15-35bhp make that much difference lol You guys still got a 55 litre tank the same as the MK2? Maybe it's just flat in the midlands haha

I run mine on Tesco Momentum. I don't have any issues with it running badly.

One of the YouTube guys who's channel is called Living Life Fast does a lot of vids with a company (Their name escapes me, possibly VRS Performance??) that specialises in tuning the various versions of the EA888 engine and they recommend using the Momentum 99.

My 280 has a 50 litre tank. (Too small IMO)

Some pretty big hills and cliff roads to climb up in Dover, I'm sure my blast up the Jubilee Way on my way home does not help the economy one little bit

Maybe I need to start hitting it a little harder on the pedal haha My max was driving to Germany when I got 440 out of a tank with 4 people in the car, although that was mainly cruising motorway driving.

Mines a 280, not sure if that makes a difference. Can’t say I noticed any difference in how the car felt and drove with Tesco 99.

However it was something someone said on this forum that made me change back to V power, and went from 250-260 miles a tank to 280-300. Had the car now nearly 3 years so maybe Tesco 99 has improved.

It’s worth mentioning, but not sure how true it is, that depending on where you are in the country depends on what fuel you actually get. Ie rumours that, all the premium fuels at the big stations (shell BP etc) get the same fuel, so maybe all get BP in the north, where down south everyone gets V power.

It’s a long time ago I read it on the MINI forum but the argument and explanation at the time did seem to make sense. I do know it came from people debating he best fuel for the Suoercharged S, and people ‘in the know’ laughing at those saying one was better than the other.

Who knows. May have to drive Tesco 99 for a month to see if it’s any different now.
