Hi guys, searched but couldn't find the answer in the old posts. Wondering if anyone can help. I am doing a hybrid conversion and hoping to push minimum 350 BHP. I been looking at Mocal oil cooler but not sure with how many rows should I go for, 16 or 19 rows?

Your help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I doubt you'll find a good answer to that to be honest. It entirely depends on how you'll be driving the car. I'd say the most important thing is a thermostatic take-off to ensure you don't over-cool your oil.

If you had to push me, I'd say 16 row and a temp sensor. Or look at Setrab extended length (these are also nicer coolers).

A similar to question to what I was going to pose, also a similar power output to what I'm after !! Is a cooler necessary at that power for a road car ?

The amount of heat wasted into your oil is primarily related to engine speed rather than load - this is not to say load doesn't come into it. For example, piston temps will rise increasing crankcase oil temp particularly from the squirt jets. If you fit a turbo that uses a larger mass flow of oil, chances are you'll increase oil temp also.

So again, it really depends how you drive it. I'd say it's worthwhile for any car you want to do sustained high speed in, or track days. Ultimately, only proper engine instrumentation will tell you (eg temp, pressure sensor)

You don't necessarily need to spend a lot. Maybe re-route the coolant pipes to the existing water-oil cooler through a separate low temp rad? Little electric pump to feed the system, motorbike rad or oil cooler, could be cheap.
