Took my car to Motorvogue for a 20,000 mile service. When I booked it in I mentioned 3 things that needed looking at, dodgy radio, rattle from rear seats and condensation problem.

Got a call to say they couldn't find a problem with the radio, the rattle is normal and there was no sign of damp so they couldn't explain the condensation. I told them it wasn't normal for the windscreen to get so much condensation that it dripped on the dash and to have another look.

On my way to fetch the car, I live 40 minutes away, I got a call to say they had caught the right hand side of the bumper on the ramp looking for the condensation problem and would need to send it to the body shop to get it fixed. As I was almost there I carried on and got a courtesy car, 1.2 Punto. Went back to fetch the car yesterday and the repair is crap, it's about 2mm too low and 2mm too far out and the paint is covered in orange peal. I tried to point it out and got told I'd have to check in day light and if it's not satisfactory I'd need to book it in again.

They cleaned the car, inside and out, they only cleaned the surface of the wheels and inside they hoovered the mats but not the bits around the edge.

At no point did I get any form of apology or offer of compensation. What's even worse is that I got new front tyres today and had the rear tyre pressures checked as they looked low, they were 10psi too low. What exactly do they do in a service for £205??

They didn't even solve the condensation problem.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to take it back to get the bumper repaired, then I'm going to have to find a new dealer for my next service.

If you hadn't already guessed, I wouldn't recommend Motorvogue to anyone.

They're also my closest dealer .. if you change to someone else, give me a shout who else you choose to use and let me know if they're any good! Cheers and sorry to hear about your bad experiences, it's not filling me with confidence I've only got another 6000 before I get to 10000

Yeah can anyone reckoment a decent dealer for a service as mine willl be comming up soon, I have been down to MV in Northampton as its my nearest dealer, and just looking at the entrance to the place i reckon they would have to replace the front splitter on my bumber if I were to drive in there... what a joke.

Please if anyone can reckomend a better dealer within 30 50 m of Northampton please get in touch.

Cheers

They're just up the road from me and I'd never let them touch my car, purely from reading experiences on here and on Fiat and Alfa forums.

Even when you order parts, they question where you get the numbers from. I find that rich as I'm also a partsman and I don't get the wrong parts!

Those guys at Northampton can be an utter waste of time. I order parts from them occasionally and one of the guys in Parts (John) is quite helpful but as for the rest of them who crawl out of the cave every morning, they want shooting lol.

It hasn't helped that they are ajoined with Fiat and Alfa.

@Tom B, where do you work?

Very unhappy

Motorvogue more than anything seem to have a major issue describing their cars properly, and also from about 3 months ago the sales and service have really gone down hill.

1. Bought my first ever car from them 2 yrs ago a little 1.2 ibiza to keep my insurance down. Described as 30k alloys a/c etc £5200 which was a good price and i loved the car. Barry was the salesman and was very very helpful. When it came to the handover the guy who did it (wasnt Barry as he wasnt there) didnt have a clue. The car had only done 18k in the end and no alloys. I refused to sign anything until Barry returned at least then he gave me £200 off and sorted me a hefty discount on the alloys and tyres (in conversation with Pete)

2. Service Department. When i changed up (see my other listing for MK Seat ) i took it back to motorvogue to get the little teething problems fixed (all it was was a broken bracket holding the rear washer pipe, an air vent had stopped opening, the interior light had blown and steering wheel mounted controls had stopped working) It took them 1 attempt to fix the light (pete delt with), 2 attempts on the vent (pete delt with the 2nd attempt and in the end removed it from another car) 3 attempts on the steering wheel controls, and now 5 attempts on the bracket and the pipe. Now the last two have only cropt up since Pete was moved on. He was the only bloke that seemed to no what he was doing in this department and they have now moved him to Fiat/Alfa.

3. I was in talks with them yesterday regarding an FR Tdi that they have. Agreed a price on the proviso that they tell me the Spec 100% before i sign any kind of deal. Atm its listed with no alarm system, 16" alloys (altho its got the 17" lupus) and generally seems to be missing half the STANDARD FR kit...... hmm maybe i should look elsewhere. The salesman doesnt up to scratch.

Since i have been a motorist i've only own SEAT's and i do love the cars but i think the dealer networks leave alot to be desired as i have now tried 3 different ones.

In short since they moved all the personel to Fiat, the SEAT arm in motorvogue has gone gone belly up. I think i might have to look elsewhere. My best experiance to date was with the Leicester garage altho their prices are a bit higher (avoid MK seat like the plague they are even worse lol)

Back from the dead
My family lived in Northampton for 20 odd years, and even back in the 80's (pre-SEAT) they had a pretty bad reputation. My folks were in the motor trade so had an insider perspective and didn't rate them at all - lots of unhappy customers. Best avoided.

I feel I have to post again now as I have really fell out with Seat SERVICING. Parts have always been ok to me but servicing is downright terrible

They have a female service advisor, common as muck and really got my back up with my recent visit.

I am in salvage/parts and pretty clued up on the VAG group (personal opinion). I had to chase them up a number of times and was lied to not only about the mavtually having started work on my car but the problems arisen. It may not have been her fault as the mechanic may have been telling her what to say but it was utter codswallop.

Worst service department for miles surely!!! I don't mind having to wait but to tell me absolute lies is atrocious :censored:

Why are you using a main dealer when there are so many better VW specialists around Northampton?

What's wrong with Unit18 for servicing & arranging MOT?

To be honest, I'd just take my own car for MOT, and then take it to Unit18 to repair.

They're cheap enough, and will do a good job on it.

Basic servicing can be done by anyone really.

Nothing, pricing is spot on, always helpful, lots of good rep. i just dont know the area that well for other places to get it serviced and i was hoping to have a few options incase i needed them.

Ross & Ali are good guys. I've slacked off for hours at their workshop before they went FT

They're among the few people that I would trust to actually do a good job (and not check it later myself)

Always had my first Cupra serviced by Techie (Ross), this was before he/they setup Unit18.

I travelled from Junction 12 of the M1 up to 15, not only was he a cheaper, but did good work :)

Can't recommend enough,

Mike

yep trust me mate dont touch that car with a barge pole. the telling factor is that they sold it shortly after i turned it down and now its back again 6months later and 8k more on the clock, its missing, alarm, aux, mp3 stereo, wheel mounted controls and i found all these whilst pouring over it for 20mins, the spare wheel had been used a fair bit as iirc it only had about 3mm on it Avoid, o btw, it was up for exactly the same price 6mnths ago when it had less miles, yet it supposed to be the facelifted model???
