hey guy's

picked up my new car lastnight

2007 impreza spec-D
fsh 70k
2 owners from new

went to doncaster to have a look at the spec d, i started a thread asking wether the 2.5 was a safe option, i also had a 2004 sti inmind, but it needed paintwork, and i didnt want to go down that route again :)

so todays job was a complete mint up.

this is how i started off,

next was the pre-wash

wheels soaked in autoglym wheel cleaner

the car was then soaked in autoglym clean all, inc the door shuts

a quick peak underneath brought a nice surprize

DSC_0642 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

sadly the pic of the car was blown out :(

after a wash, the car was dried and brought inside and put on the double lift ramp

the car was then ready for the clay bar, it was quite full of tar which was presoaked with autoglym tar and glue

the result of the claying

i then set about with the machine polisher, working with 3m compounds and various pads the car had three rounds,

fastcut plus
fine compound
ultra fina

the lights were also tackled

then wiped down and a nice coat of autoglym hd wax was applied.

heres my box of tricks

DSC_0718 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

ive said it before, going over your new car in such detail allows you to really get to know it, and inspect it for damage, chips rust etc

im happy to say the car is very clean, there are three dents all of which i will remove via pda. the final thing i will do is stick it on the hunter and set it up for fast road action

thanks for looking

well my exhaust tip turned up this morning, and there had been a cockup.

while it was the right size, with burnt tip they sent a tip with internal baffle like this

MIJBackboxDoubleSkinnedSlashCutTailpipe2_zpsb5266003.jpg

so decided to spin it down to seperate the skins on the lathe next door :)

IMG_3120 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

this let me tap the insides out, but i did lose my burnt tip :(

next i took the back box off and cut the tip off

IMG_3121 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

marked, test fitted then welded the new tip inplace

IMG_3123 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

and fitted

This looks great mate, you've done a top job with the cleaning, fancy doing mine? ;)

Why are you selling already, ive always wanted one of these but ive gotta wait a few years yet because of insurance

I think the exhaust looks better how you have ended up doing it also, i like rally and i think it makes it look more that way as it is, spoiler looks great too, just need lowering slightly and it would be spot on :)

mark, its a running joke lol

nope the lcr is a thing of the past, the 2.5 sti engine pulls the same as the lcr due to low down torque, plus it sounds like a scoob :)

really is such a different drive to the 2.0 impreza, only down side is £475 a year rd tax!!!!!!!!!

The next job was to remove the leather interior, and clean the remnants of the previous owner including the nice buiscuits.

Notice my seats have both airbags and seat belt warnings, I have had two deals in place. First was a set of late blob seats version 9 including correct door cards, second was a set of version 8 seats but offered were bugeye door cards, not ideal and the fact meant both seats having no airbag if have to use resistors to fool the ecu.

The rb320 seats being version 10 clipped right in.

And here they are

Great to see you back on the forum Jake with another incredible car. Sounds like it's a nice step up from the the blue bugeye'd scooby you had previously. So when are you going back to a Kia wagon then? :)

Keep us updated :)

Think this is me done tbh, yes it does cost £470 a yr to tax, but it picks up like a lcr, sounds and handles like a scoob, what more could you want.
