My temp problem

Ok guys I'm a bit confused here, my temp gauge only rises slightly, sometimes it hits 90 degrees but mainly stays under I have replaced the sensor in the picture but this has made no difference ? Anyone help me.

Would this affect my mpg etc

Any help would be great.

No the water constantly circulates and keeps the engine cool (too cool) I've got the same issue and have also replaced the CTS so the thermostats the next port of cool. My EML has came on with the and is P1296 which points to a problem with the cooling system. Also probably will have an effect on your MPG. I'm sure it has on mine and is due to the engine not getting up to optimum temp so constantly bunging more fuel in! :(

Picture in your first post is a coolant temperature sensor, on the right hand side of the engine, the thermostat is on the left hand side at the front behind the alternator iirc. Not a big job just very awkward because of location.

Yeah most car part dealers will have them. Probably for under a tenner too.
