How does the traffic jam assist actually work? Does it accelerate and brake within a preset speed range?

A new feature – Traffic Jam Assist – operates at speeds of up to 37 mph, and can steer, accelerate and brake automatically to make life in stop-start traffic less wearing.

Up to 37mph - seems quite high for it to be in control of steering, be interesting to see how this translates to real world.

The Leon Cross is a concept version of the SC Cupra on stilts and unlikely to appear in production. The 20V20 is another concept that should appear as another SEAT SUV in due course. It will be equivalent to the Audi Q5. The Ateca is equivalent to the Audi Q3 and VW Tiguan.

Apparently they also plan a smaller SUV based on the Ibiza which will be equivalent to the Audi Q2 which was also announced at Geneva.

So far, based on the press release, I am very impressed with the Ateca. I will almost certainly be ordering one later this year. The only reason for holding back is that they may offer a more powerful petrol engine nearer 200PS. At present the most powerful is the 150 PS. It's a lovely engine but I would prefer a bit more power in the bigger, heavier Ateca. There is no way I want a diesel.

The extras look good especially the 360 degree cameras and park assist. Electric, foot controlled boot is a good idea and Traffic Jam assist looks good if you are unfortunate enough to spend time in traffic. The fact that you can have DSG and or 4wd on all models except the 1.0 tsi is good, many competitors cannot do this. The only downside on the model line up so far is that if you want the 190PS diesel you must have DSG and 4wd which might not suit everyone.

It certainly looks very well priced and the Excellence model is good value when you look at the included options.

They say that is a direct competitor to the Nissan Qashqai, but is suspect that when the press reviews come out soon it will run rings round it.

Just for anyone who has problems pronouncing these strange Spanish names, it is pronounced Ahh-Tay-Car with the accent on the Tay but I expect that will get lost in translation!

Apparently these wont be in showrooms until September, pity as this is exactly the type of car my wife is currently looking for.

I notice that unlike the UK pre-sales brochure, the German and French SEAT websites include the 1.4TSi DSG petrol option! I'm also surprised that there is no Configurator or pricing information available yet on the SEAT UK website - Only the "Keep me Informed" button!

I registered using the 'keep me informed' page a while back, haven't heard anything yet. Not even a stock 'thanks for your interest/thanks for registering' type of email in reply. Does make you wonder who's in charge of their marketing sometimes.
