Great forum this folks!

Picking up my new Leon - magic black - in a few weeks and want to get off to a good start on the polishing waxing front. Particularly, as it will no doubt be caked in salt soon!

I have been using Meguiers Gold Class polish for my 3 year old black Lupo Gti and to be honest it comes up a treat albeit after a good bit of elbow grease!

Having spent a good hour reading all the threads I have come to the conclusion that the following process and products would be best suited for the brand new motor....

Washing - Johnson & Johnson Baby Shampoo (bargain if it does what the 'specialist' shampoos do!).

Polish - Klasse All In One

Wax - Poorboy Natty's Paste (Blue)

I'm not sure whether I'll go for a sealant like the Poorboy's EX-P between the AIO and wax - being a new car not sure it needs it?

I think that should do the job perfectly well initially - anyone see any probs or have any other tips?

Will do matey!

I assume that once the first full application is done including the polish, wax and Gloss Guard it needn't be done again a for a month or two?

If it needs a clean in between I'm hoping a bucket of hot water/shampoo, a chamois and perhaps another coat of the Turtle Wax will do the job?

Not sure on the baby shampoo tho mate, will probably take off the Natty's when you wash.

Try some Wolfgang sealant before the Natty's as well.

I'd suggest leaving out the Johnson's and Turtle Wax. On a brand new car in your colour I'd recommend...

Wash - Poorboys Slick n Suds, via lambswool mitt and two bucket method
Polish - won't need it, but AIO by foam applicator will lay down a protective layer of acrylic sealant which will serve as an excellent base for...
Sealant - Poorboys EX if the black is flat, Poorboys EX-P if its metallic (EX adds depth to flat colours whilst EX-P doesn't mute the flake)
Wax - Poorboys Natty's Blue

Then maintain after each wash with Optimum Car wax, which is a spray on wax and about the best quick detailing spray there is. Adds more protection as it brings out the gloss.

Thanks for the advice!

A few questions...

1)Lambswool mit for washing? Any idea where I can get these from - I assume Halfrauds will only stock the cheap and nasty stuff!

2)How often do you think I need to do the AIO, EX-P and Natty's? I'm thinking every 4-6 weeks should be more than ample although the fact it's black metallic will require maybe more loving!

3)I assume we're best using Micofibre for removing the polish if I haven't got a PC?

4)Does the foam applicator come with the Klasse AIO?

1) www.meguiars.co.uk do a good wash mitt (sheepskin). Dont use a sponge but I guess you already knew that.

2) AIO - you only do this once or at the least the same cycle that you would normally polish the car. I say this as KLASSE AIO can not be layered as it contains cleaning agents to remove old contaminents which include wax and previous layers.

3) You can get MicroFibre for the PC too! But yes, MicroFibre is by far the best for wax removal and final buffing. Never use the same towel for different applications.

4) I ordered one from Autopia and it cames with a foam/mf applicator - not sure if this is still the case. If ordering from the UK then it will be upto your supplier if they provide one or not.

Hope the above is of some help

Just to clarify, what Mark is saying is that the sealant stage only needs doing once every few months. Six or so perhaps.
Top up your wax as often as you like, but certainly every month at least.

Are you aware of Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze? A layer of this on top of your AIO would be a worthwhile addition to your process.
