In a dilemma. I fancy something new at the end of the year but cant decide which to get. What do you reckon? There seems to be lots of low mileage RS's around for roughly the same price as I think I can get the R for. Or is there something else I can consider?
I've currently got a white K1 with black wheels which I can buy at the end of the lease, but I'm not sure that the Cupra R is going to be much different, but I fancy a change.

Cupra R won't be much different to the K1 mate. Stick with the K1 imo!

Megane 250 Cup looks a weapon if you enjoy the track...

RS is a bit too fugly and OTT for me, but no doubt a good car.

Just round the corner.
I wouuld have said go for the RS, but it's already a common site on the roads. But the noise and kudos that they hold, has to be admired. Personally I prefer the looks of the K1, as it stands out from most on the road. TBH, I'd buy your car and start modding if you haven't already!

get a golf r now for 25k. id say stick with yours till you see what the mk3 leon produces.

There is one on pistonheads with 10,000 miles and DSG for £26,000
Would certainly be my choice...

If you are set on a Cupra R then FFS don't buy one new!!! Looking at £23,000 for the most expensive one on pistonheads atm.

cupra r isnt enough over the cupra or k1 in my eyes.

Focus ST is nice but i think the fact they claimed figures are mentally wrong would piss me off.

I personally love the Megane RS 250. its a quality car come with a proper LSD and KTEC do all the part you need to get it up to 300 with ease.

Brembos on the CUP and also some swish Recaro's. only this that looks stupid is the Built in Sat Nav but who wants that when you can have the Renault sport Monitor.

that said i know this isnt every ones cuppa but i really like the DS3R :D

If you want to be noticed and benefit from very strong residuals, get the Focus RS.
If you want to blend in and surprise a few people, get the Golf R.

I wouldn't buy the LCR, not unless you can get it a lot cheaper.

I would love an RS, particularly one like chopper-lews ;) but the Mrs thinks they are too in your face and we really need 5 doors on both our cars. Personally I don't think the Cupra R makes any sense against a standard cupra given the price difference. When we bought ours the no VAT deal was running so the Cupra was at that time a very good value for money hot hatch. I was still considering the R but the dealer would only offer us half VAT off that so it was a no brainer for me. Plus, if and when I ever go stage 1 both the Cupra and the Cupra R map to the same power.

My vote would go for a used (5 door) Golf R, though I reserve judgement as I haven't test driven one. Test drove a mk 6 Golf GTI though and didn't like it anywhere near as much as the Cupra. S3 is looking very dated now so that wouldn't be on my shopping list.

5 door??

narrows it down abit really.

evos, scoobies, mazda MPS,

does it have to be petrol?

if not how about a BMW Alpina d3?

The Mazda 3 MPS was on my list at one stage. However, it had the heaviest depreciation of all the cars I was looking at (to replace the wifes Mini cooper S which the kids out grew), plus it is incredibly fugly in my eyes. Evos and Scoobies are great cars but I don't reckon they make practical daily drivers. By the way, I am heavily prejudiced against diesels so thats a non starter :D

I think we made the correct decision, but obviously the OP probably has different criteria.

If you mean the RS then I know the problem your talking about. Early models were making as low as 275 bhp. The problem should have been fixed however as when they are taken in for a service, updated engine maps will have been uploaded to the ECU.

As long as they have had a recent service from ford they should be making the claimed 300 bhp.

Can get a rs4 estate with 50k on the clock for 25k. That roomy enough for you? or an older 2000 plate rs4 estate with the more tuneable 2.7 biturbo with 60k on the clock for 18k. I love big power estates. Would love an e-class amg estate.
