I'm looking for a new car at the moment, really have no idea what to get. Saw a Alfa Giulietta today, looked quite nice. Going round many garages over the bank hol weekend

the RS500 doesnt float my boat , ive seen the RS being built video and that glorious shiny black paintwork getting covered up just aint on , it should have been an option imho

That is kind of the beauty of it though, you can peel it off to reveal a spotless factory fresh black gloss paint job underneath if you wish. The matt black film is designed to last 60,000 miles, then you either need a re-wrap (£1500) or you take it off to reveal the unmarked black gloss underneath.

whites the best colour though

theres too much of this wrapping stuff going on , i think it would look great half and half.

My cupra would shock a standard rs, but what would a mapped rs do, it's all relative. I'm a believer you should own an rs in your lifetime, the closest I got was a keyring with my mkII escort way back!!

i'd love to own a mk2 RS but the chances are slim nowadays, still at least i've owned one which was a Fiesta RS and if ford ever release a new Fiesta RS i will be at the dealers with a deposit.

If straightline speed matters to you then obviously going from a cupra to a FRS isnt a step up. However for the extra money that the FRS costs you get a sorted chassis, proper buckets, and proper stand out looks. Granted though I swear I see more FRS than cupras these days!

Overall the FRS will be a better car, but thats expected, its newer and more expensive, and built without many comprimises!

Heyyyyyyyy Rob, its going to be ok. Dont you see the little puppy tail wagging at you, when you get back to the car park, and see its your Cupra!?
(stereotyping the Leon as a little puppy dog - compared to the Rottweiler that is the RS)! :D

In my earlier statement on the RS, I was trying to be polite, considering its got such a following here. So lets be frank, the RS is a car you buy because you crave being noticed. You dont want to be a nobody, driving a bland A to B car, you want reputation and respec', and you'll get it ........ from the Maccy'D crowd or parked up outside a school somewhere....

It has Chav written all over it, at least the Leon has CLASS! :p

everyone says the rs is a young persons car but the 2 people i know are on the wrong side of 35 and one has it phase 2 mountune'd.everybody iv'e seen driving them aswell seems to be in that age bracket or older.I'm thinking more mid life crisis car were you wanting the attention of the younger folk. I'm 27 and i think im too old for an RS.

Exactly ^ Plus for that money, why not go for a proper 'grown up' car.
You have great options with Mitsubishi (Evos), Nissan (Skylines), Honda etc..
Or even great Audi / BMW M sport cars for the money.. Luxury plus the performance to go with it...

It must be a British thing, everyone wanting to re-live their youth, with chav Ford / Vauxhall... there's a 50 something year old man I've seen driving around in a Blue Astra VXR, with a sticker in the back that says "I'm the Daddy"...

...say no more

TBF, if you want a "performance car" you'd buy it to be exciting. Not just for performance, but looks as well. If you don't look back at the car, when you've been out and still think WOW. Then it's missing the point.
Ford, know how to make a car that ticks the right boxes. Interior wise the RS looks a nice place, but also has little touches like the guage binacle on the dash, so you don't have to go for after market pods.

The interior is the biggest let down for the mk2, the colour for the dash is awful. It makes the plastics look cheap and dated. Which is a shame, as the rest of the car is great.
