Pretty much the title. I currently drive a BMW E46 320Ci and whilst I love it, it has just hit its 110K mile and things are starting to feel quite fragile.

I'm also looking for something that doesn't drink petrol at the same rate since I have a longer commute to work. I've become quite interested in the Bocanegra; however, I've heard all of the horror stories regarding the car's 1.4Tsi engine. I know they made the CTHE version of this engine which included various improvements around 4th quarter of 2012 so I'm assuming some of the 'later' models had this engine.

My question is, since this car has now put on a few years, is it safer to assume the ones still on the road are the selection that survived all of the issues with the CAVE 1.4Tsi engine?

Obviously, getting the car with full service history and warranty is a wise choice but I'm really on the fence with this after hearing about the engine's history.
