Who's your dealer? Ordering isn't supposed to be possible until mid December. You sure they haven't just taken a depost and will order later this month?

It doesn't have to be quicker, it needs to go round corners IMHO. From what I've heard of the Mk2 leon it handles better than the Mk1.

I have to say I'm tempted to join you on the list Z ;)

but is the LCR really that bad? I know a lot of reviews say it doesn't handle well and so do some of the owners but when you actually get someone who can drive to take it around a track it doesn't compare too badly against other hot hatches

Didn't it do quite well in some of the evo tests when comparing laptimes against the CTR, FRS, Astra VXR, Focus ST, MK5 Golf GTI etc

similar results on the top gear track as well IIRC near identical laptimes to the CTR and astra VXR and good second or 2 quicker than the likes of the mk5 GTI, ST, clio 182 cup, meganne 225, R32, cooper s works etc

could be that the new cupra is easier for the average person to get the most out of, can't see it being hugely quicker around the track though, some reviews have said the handling isn't quite as good as the golfs yet other reviews say its better

not knocking the new cupra at all I'd quite like one myself if I could talk the mrs into it but with a baby on the way it might not be that practical.

it's just that the rear grip is so much better because of the independant rear

it's diffecult to explain - but in stead of skipping round a corner if you're on the edge / trying hard the new one (based on FR experience) will just 'go round' - if you lift off instead of pointing you at a hedge with snap oversteer it just drifts a bit

Personally yes I think the LCR is that bad, when you consider how it should drive. m0rk has hit the nail on the head with the worst part about the LCR handling. It's in no way progressive about letting go on the edge. Once it gets to that point where you'd like to really pull it back round the back end is probably already going the wrong way. Snap oversteer and wallowy suspension onsweeping bends just isn't right in a car you buy to drive hard.

I'll wait to drive a new Mk2 Cupra but if that's fixed I might be tempted.

There's a lot of confusion around ordering and dealer info at the moment. Some dealers are claiming that the car is now available for actual ordering on the system, yet others aren't.

It would be good if Seat could provide one clear set of information - i.e. ordering will be available from .......

on a brand new car you'll be hard pushed initially

especially if they limit the dealers to x cars a year each.

Talking Brembos a baffoon is a freelander pulled out on me today into a rural dorset lane. I use to drive a modded ATR with uprated brakes and it would`nt have stopped !! The Cupra R brembo brakes are not a fashion Item - they are essential !! What a set of stoppers is all I can say !!

I have had a few cars , my last was an ATR with uprated brakes and red line pads. I thought that this was a good set up , but I can after my surpise attack by a viusally impaired four by four driver today confirm the Brembos on my new LCR are fantastic. I cannot see how the R32 set up can be any way near as good.

I must say the post from Mike was well worth a read - spot on old bean !

I phoned Seat UK today to hopefully get a clear "cars can be ordered from dealers from the ##th of this month". Instead, after discussions with the product and marketing department I was told "They can be ordered, it's up to the dealers whether they take orders now or not". :banghead2

How hard can it be to spend 20K on a car.

they're obviously not giving out a firm commitment for a reason - i cant imagine its just a big pr1ck tease.

rather than lose a sale its easier to let dealers take orders, even if later they have to manage a message to the customer later on. Once they have taken a deposit:
a) youre less likely to walk away
b) you wont go off and find an extra couple of grand to get a golf gti anniversary 230ps.

once you start playing russian roulette with your core customer base you have to hope they have a solid strategy to deliver quickly once 'whatever decision is being made in the background' has been made.
