Have to say the MK 1 Toledo is so much better looking than than the mK 2 - the back end of the new Toledo is ungainly to say the least. Current range is crying out for a really stylish saloon - love the Altea and new Leon so I'm hoping the first 'facelift' of the new SEAT models will be the Toledo to give it a nice bum!

I have to say, I can't quite see the attraction of the MK1, to me it just looks like a Cordoba.

C'mon Sam, you know as well as anyone the shocking residuals on the Mk2 (that's the Leon shaped one Starbank, there was a Toledo before this known as the Mk1)

'Family' saloons just aren't practical for today's modern living - you can't risk take your saloon car to Ikea to pic up flat packs of glass and light wood without keeping the roofbars in reserve.

Don't really understand the AlteaXL - never been in one, but to me it's just a Toledo with the back end of a tranny van

I know what your saying......it happened exactly the same with the Bora....i cant understand it myself:shrug: ....they are a cracking car....:D much more sturdy, less body twist.....

But as we all know they are bullet proof, keeping it until eventual scrap, she wont owe you anything....(good job as it will be worth Squat didly!)

AS FOR THE IKEA VISITS!!! FORGET IT.........been there, done that, sat in the Warrington store car park for an hour while other half runs around trying to find a mate with a van thats free!!! GDI lovely table though!! hahahahaha

Its down to the UK buyers being fixated with buying hatchbacks. Look at the most popular cars at this size and smaller, they are predominantly hatchbacks i.e. Saxo, Golf, Mondeo etc etc.

Makes small saloons cheaper to buy, good news. Makes 'em a bugger to sell and depreciate like crazy,

Up in the North West a few months back there was a couple of Toledo V5's (both in burgundy, 60-70K on the clock) that were on sale for at least 6 months!!

When I sold mine I had one phonecall, luckily that fella bought it and I sold it when it was the current model. I didn't want to flog it but I could see that the prices were going to go pearshaped so got rid. I can get the same car less than 2 years later for half what I got for it.

My Toledo TDi SE will soon be up for sale and I'll be sticking a huge TDI sign in the window in the hope that helps it get shifted.

i agree with you 100%
but the bora (known as Jetta in yanks) was the highest/fastest selling European car car in the states. ( yanks hate the Golf 4)
im sure the Toledo would make a hit in the states as well as did the Bora.
buy the way i currently own both cars now and i love them to bits.

Yeah just put my details into 247spares and had one come back but all they have is the bumper skin and no skirts. Didn't realise how rare these parts are!

Yeah skirts are the first to go :(

By the time it's being fork-lifted into the scrapyard the skirts have long gone.

I bit the bullet with the replacement I needed (for my lost one) and got it through the dealer - only about £100 and probably will save a good chunk of that by not having to get a 2nd hand one rubbed down and re-prime'd

Yeah thats true, hopefully some will turn up soon as £200 on skirts, plus the cost of a front bumper and spraying is probably beyond my budget!
