Cheers guys and I didn't mean specifically that it was a dump valve just something that sound abit like air being dumped, although it sound like its the revers with air being sucked in

Nice to know the sound is quite normal :)

Well I had the cupra r about 2and a half years ago for a few months, since then I've had a BMW 330cd remapped at 255bhp, it was good on fuel but needed to sell while it was worth abit as now the family is about to get bigger
Here it is btw

So needed a car with 4/5doors and a diesel at that and the fr nicely fit the bill

I like it, however the constant traction control in 1st n 2nd is abit annoying

Overall happy with the car and the mpg compared to the cupra r is phenomenal

Lakenheath, Suffolk.
My 55 plate fr+ Has:

Smoothed and drilled airbox with a 3' cold air feed forced up from the fog lamp hole.
Full Miltek system (non-resonated) with large bore down pipe.
Re-mapped to about 195bhp with just over 300 ft/lb of torque.

This will create the best sound possible (for a diesel) - the spool up is very loud on low revs (not so loud higher up the rev range) and when u change gear or 'let off' the exhaust makes a wicked sound - which i cant really describe but it is very unique.

However on idle its still very much in tractor mode.

Liam.

Mines the same mate. On accelerating it starts to whistle, turbo kicks in around 2k and then as I let off it makes the dump sound your talking about. I also know its not a dump valve but sounds not too dissimilar albeit quieter. I'm hoping to sort my exhaust out soon and give it the pigeon sounding "coooo" on letting off throttle and would like to reduce the turbo lag. Grip is a bitch in 1st and 2nd and nearly been caught out a few times. Had the car a month and love it! First ever diesel and in no rush to go back to petrol anytime soon =D drove a non turbo'd corsa recently and it was so frustrating even tho it had like 100bhp

Are you going for the full system mate? and the coooo sound I'm guessing that comes with having a new down pipe ?

I'm not sure yet tbh as theres so much debate over the removal of the cat. I think I'm leaning towards leaving in the cat and just having a straight pipe through with all boxes removed. As for the coo noise I think that comes from just chopping out the back box but I could be wrong
