Hi Guys,

Absolute novice with cars here - got some problems with my MK1 Cupra - chokes itself up, real bad after idling but drives a dream if i'm giving it some - simlilar issue to an issue that Nautilus had in 2012 reading back on his posts. Getting a SEAT specialist to recommend what to do and hoping that it's not a costly fix as I'm moving out in a few weeks as well as losing my daily car in 2 weeks (lease Scirocco 2L TSI '16 plate)
Stressful times!!!

Hoping I can get the cupra working 100% cuz when it is working, i love it!

Thanks!

It's more like this issue, going back in time a bit now! - https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?threads/auq-engine-horrible-stutter-and-misfire-code.352879/

I did have a boost pipe come off, under some heat shielding so took me longer than i'd like to admit to find it (so long that i ordered a new MAF sensor from Germany, waited for delivery and fitted it before finding that wasn't the problem, but now I have a new MAF lol!)
But the main issue still occurs, if left to idle, or slower town driving, it can get so lumpy to drive and in real bad situations cut out and choke up. Get a mass of grey smoke out of the back (my initial reaction to the first time was that it was a f**ked head gasket) but then drives fine again. A local guy i know but doesn't deal with modified cars at all thinks that oil is getting into the engine and causing misfires, once you give it some, burns this up and car is okay again?
My version if this Chinese whisper might make no sense hence why I'm getting it to a specialist and hoping they can direct me too!

I might drop a post on there and see what people think, thanks!

Welcome. I would post your MK1 issue in the MK1 section as it is unlikely to be viewed in the newbie section. Go to Leon & choose MK1. Good luck!
