Had my exeo 2.0 TDI st 143 CVT multitronic 6 months and I love it. However I have heard horror stories about the CVT so when I noticed a metallic rattle under acceleration i began to worry took it to a CVT specialist and preyed. Gearbox is fine heatsheilds all in tacked engine mounts all good and they still couldn't find the rattle. It's on the drivers side either front or back foot well. CAN ANYONE HELP.

I had an issue with mine in roughly the same place took me over 6 month to work it out it turned out to be the front caliper anti rattle spring that was out of shape causing the brake pads to chatter so I cleaned up the pads and caliper re-greased and put a new rattle spring in and it were cured

Did the spring work? I’m interested as I have something similar on mine however not on acceleration but more at low speed over rough ground. I thought it was the anti-roll bar bushes so swapped them out along with the drop links but it made no difference

Tried brake caliper spring no difference still got rattle. Everything really tight on dri ers side think it might be small pipe above cat
Thats a shame. I bought some new springs from GSF but not had chance to fit them.

Out of interest, has it recently had a timing belt change or a reason to take the front end off? The reason i ask is that over the years a lot of the fixings for the lights/bumper have corroded and as such sheared when it recently had the timing belt done. I have new brackets for the lights to fix and sometimes wondered if the rattle could be the lights/bumper moving slightly especially as mine only does it at low speed on rough ground.

Found my rattle after trying all suggestions with no success and having gearbox checked. The rattle was the small pipe on top of cat that comes from for filter it is supposed to sit on a bracket with the aid of a spring clip which stops it rattling ontop of the cat. The spring clip is missing so it rattled no wonder they lived with it what a b***h to fit
