I think its probably easiest to say by copying and pasting the comments from anothr TTRS owner with a revo map and cat by-pass pipe, with hard figures from his vbox!

"Any way I have a GPS meter, the same as EVO use to test the cars for the mag here are my STANDARD 3rd gear rolling times.

40-60 - 2.2 seconds
50-70 - 2.39 seconds
60-80 - 2.58 seconds

Now I have had fitted the cat by-pass pipes and new pannel filter and the REVO map.

Tuned 3rd gear times all run the same as before
40-60 - 1.82 seconds
50-70 - 1.84 seconds
60-80 - 1.99 seconds

massive gains

as a note here are EVO R8 v10 roll on 3rd gear times
40-60 - 2.3 seconds
50-70 - 2.3 seconds
60-80 - 2.3seconds

and here are the mighty GTR 3rd gear times

40-60 - 2.1 seconds
50-70 - 2.1 seconds
60-80 - 2.1 seconds

Now that is impressive! Can I ask why you went for the TT? Apart from it being a quick car standard and even more so when mapped!

I'm also interested in hearing why you went for one over say a GTR?

Love the TTRS though, awesome piece of kit, and those figures say it all.

Good luck with it mate! :)

Well long story, but when I was really young my old man had a audi 80. Now because of that car I became obsessed with audi's and the original audi quattro aka UrQuattro rally car is my fave audi of all time and I dreamt of owning one. However they are now few and far inbetween and are a collectors items meaning a quattro sport is out of my reach tbh to run purely as a weekend/warm weather toy. Then there is the RS4's. Ive always wanted a RS audi. So im sure some people can see where this is going but basically, TT-RS is one dream ticked, 5 cylinder turbo engine like the original audi quattro is another dream off the list. So ive killed two birds with one stone!

It just so happens that the engine is in the TT, have never really lusted after a TT as such, so you could say I purely got the car for the engine.

The hairdresser look suits his image and his man uggs

;)

Jeremy Clarkson described the TT-RS as being "Epic". And you cannot get more manly than Jeremy Clarkson ;)

Cheers mate, seriously looked into getting a GTR but with a bit of research soon found out its all a marketing scam. Running costs are stupidly high. Yes ofcourse you would expect high running costs from a car like the GTR, but bloody hell that car is in another stratosphere. Plus it needs so much TLC, and so many different things can make your warranty void. Running a GTR is like running a rare exotic italian supercar. Its a joke tbh, nissan see the gearbox as being a consumable, and they obviously seem aware of the fact that the GTR isnt that sturdy, because if you were to buy one tomorrow it wouldnt come with launch control like earlier cars did as the gearbox couldnt handle it. And because it has no launch control the 0-60 time has increased by quite some margin.

The GTR really isnt a complete car, a 911 turbo is, properly engineered, lasts and can handle abuse. Plus to run a 911 turbo costs barely more than your 2.0TFSI, have a look on the porsche website for the servicing costs, its really cheap considering the car. Rant over lol.

that wouldnt be from johhny c by any chance would it?

Na not jonnyc's car. His car is faster still!

Well done Pov, great choice.

Those REVO + exhaust times must be a big dangling carrot and the vids that suggests sub4 0-60 and over 400bhp will tick 2 milestones off.

Bit suprised at the R8 times as standard, maybe that's a weight thing?

Enjoy the car in standard form for a few months which is imho when the itch will come that you will need to scratch!

Probably a stupid question but how's the handling as standard, pretty good i'm guessing?

Having recently added the new Audi A5 (only the 2.0 TDI Sportback) to the stable as the family wagon I can see why you have moved to Audi and would be a serious consideration for me to move also when my fun with the K1 has finshed. Albeit TT-RS would be out for me as need to have 4 half-decentseats, so S3 (although the body looks very dull and out-of-date now and would I want to spend more money for the same engine?). S5 sportback maybe for me.

Keep in touch, there's an Audi section on this forum too you know and you knowledge of the Cupra will still be very useful to the community

Think that maybe something to do with NA power and what gear was used as a V10 R8 is quicker than a GTR once moving.. The V8 R8 however is quite disappointing performance wise (no quicker than a Stage 2+ K04 till silly speeds). The looks on the other hand

Agree would be the V10 R8 all day for me and looks to die for!

Just seen Revo stage 1 claims for the TTRS;

Std 335bhp / 332lbft torque
Revo 410bhp / 403lbft torque.

All this with no extra mods required.

So if we think we see huge gains upto 60bhp (240 to 300 on the cupra) then image 75ish bhp/torque gain from a single remap. Potentially awesome.

£700 notes before tax though :headhurt:

Sold it to you yet Pov!!

The handling is brill so much more composed than the k1, really need to do that comparison write up of both the cars merits.

I thought the GTR was quicker fullstop?

Rather the r8 anday though, albeit Id rather a TTRS than the v8 version!

Nice car but you could have had a Nissan GT-R for that money!, The RS also loses lots http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2068612.htm

Thanks for the input but I did my research before buying, and as you can see that car is priced to sell, and a GTR still costs alot more to buy, and a hell of alot more to run. At 1760kg the GTR is going to eat through its 350 pound each tyres (and thats using camskill prices) and a full set of pads and discs is 3k, then theres the transmission oil which needs changing every 7500 miles, the requirement of a service after every track day (all the data is stored on the ECU on how and where you have been driving) and the fact that Nissan sees the 8k+ tranny as a consumable.

I shall stick to my TT-RS which costs the same to service as my cupra barring the occasional haldex oil change, gets the same MPG, tyres which only costs 30 quid extra ontop of my cupra and Brake discs which are 186 pounds. Then all for a 800 remap is quicker than the GTR, with a quicker 0-62 time than the latest euro spec GTRs due to the fact that Nissan have now removed launch control from the new models as the tranny couldnt handle it.

Had I GTR money I would get a 2nd hand 997 Turbo over a GTR anyday, as it can handle the abuse, and is quicker once both cars are modded to similiar power levels.

I agree with most of what you are saying, but the GTR is simply in another league to the TT-RS, I had one and it isnt that bad to run....
