Non Starter, INJECTORS

:help: My Seat Arosa 1.4 Auto, 03 plate , 9940 miles, has finally given in to intermmitent problem , occassionally over last couple of weeks (since service) the car wouldn't start first time as is the norm, the engine would turn over but no sign of engine starting, maybe after a couple of attempts it would then fire up and run perfectly, (just a case of carry on till something packs up completely ,then easier to find problem) .
I am at that stage now (trailered home 180 miles) fault code came up with all injectors to short (think thats what mechanic said) . sent off ECU to have it checked, been told that all is well with it, should be back tomorrow, what should we be looking for next????????????
In my research on line it's a case of checking relay that powers pump/injectors? or the plug in sensor on top of carb (reading other owners problem solving points me to those)
Suppose we could get ECU back tomorrow and plug it in and all problems have vanished (as with computers) but don't hold out much hope.
Would be grateful of any advice as to point us in right direction for curing this problem .
Thanks in anticipation

Problem solved (hopefully)

Hello all.:D
Follow up to my recent problems with Injector problems, problem turned out to be the ECU after all (checked out as ok by third party and returned as no problem found) this put a red herring in the mix.
Turned out that the relay for fuel pump/ injectors is earthed via the ECU , for some reason (unfound)the ECU was failing to earth it 100% of the time , cure seems to be to cut earth lead (red/yellow)between ECU and relay and earth relay to bodywork and insulate lead from ECU
Doing it that way doesn't cause any problem to ECU ,as can be the case if you just put earth lead to ECU terminal.
Has been starting 100% of the time today and am off to pick it up tonight and hopefully to clear the 10,000 miles on the clock this weekend:):)

Probably not such a cheap fix but could help others in the future

Hi
Probably not such a cheap fix probably landed with a bill for three hours labour to find the fault, plus cost of having ECU proffesionally (ha ha !)checked out. Went to pick it up last night and the engine management light hadn't been reset ,so another trip today to pick it up.
Hopefully if this episode helps other Seat owners then it's been good to put it on here, as l found some clues to problem on my research on here.

Spoke too soon

:(
Seems we are back to square one, don't know the whole story , but engine management light cannot be turned out and other problems arisen, find out more on Monday.
My feeling is send back ECU, complaining that it hasn't been repaired(as they couldn't find a fault)but there obviously is one ! Intermittent earthing problem . Car starts 100%of time but cannot risk accepting the car with eng/man light on permanently.
Whoops there goes another week or more!!!!!!!!!!!:censored:

Hi ALL
Well it finally did get fixed , ecu went back to specialist , they said that they still couldn't find anything, when it came back , plugged it in and everything was fine?
Has been now for the last 7 months , Just a case of getting in there moving wires etc ? who knows?
Owner of garage said he felt guilty billing me as he hadn't done anything to repair it, Still wanted paying though!
