Well got the call from the garage today & bad news. My gearbox is a write off nothing salvageable, casing the lot shagged!
Original quote was £2100 ish from them to get a gearbox fro Germany from their suppliers, so as you can imagine am now chasing around for a refurbed one. reckon I'm looking at around £1200 fitted & at least it comes with 12 months guarantee so I'll be getting a new car for Xmas this yaer when the guarantee runs out!
Just waiting on a call about my new gearbox now & can't wait to pay the bill lol!!!

Got one hopefully paying tomoz. £830 inc delivery to the garage. Cones off a 58 plate that had done 21k. 6 month guarantee unlimited mileage. Then just the fitting cost, finally getting the window regulator replaced at last so add another £180 to the bill :) have to keep smiling :) least i'll hopefully have the Tolly back towards the end of the week maybe!
Be glad when she's back working again, have missed her & travelling my 70 mile round trip commute in a Streetka is quite painful!!!

Well bit the bullet and paid out in the end :-( taking all the Xmas prezzzies back for refunds to pay for it lol! Turns out the gearbox place doesn't have very good reviews online when yo look into it apart from their own ones! Also a relative who knows the area said stay well away. Thought they were weird as they wanted BACS transfer as payment.....WTF no over phone credit card payments accepted!
So decided to pay an extra £800 and get a genuine one with a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty from my local VW specialist, who i trust might i add!
Hopefully I'll have the Tolly back within a week with everything working ready for a good detail. Now i won't be swapping the old girl for a while now to get my monies worth!

Getting the car back on Tuesday. Clutch is worn so whilst everything out getting that changed too. Final bill just over £2500 for New gearbox, clutch dual mass fly wheel window regulator. I know it's a huge bill, but got new tyres last year, just been serviced & New brakes all round recently too should meZn she's good for a good while longer now? Well, fingers crossed anyway. Can't wait to get it back now!

Yeh me too Gaz? Got a few plans for it now, been thinking about it a while and spending this much means its definately getting the treatment now. Lowering springs, new stereo, wheel refurb & sorting the front spoiler to start (loads of stone chips) hopefully get her back Monday/Tuesday next week
