One of the number plates lamps on my 15 plate Ibiza FR ST has stopped working, took the lamp out to find its badly corroded, so much so that I need a new lamp or two, but first I need to fix the water ingress, does anybody know of any common areas for water to get in to the tailgate on the ST model ?

also any pointers as to which new lamps, LED versions, to get off eBay?

It's probably not abnormal water ingress. Water/dampness gets into everything and the crazy amount of salt we dump on the roads here destroys any bare metal it can find.

Right, I’ve still not fixed this number plate lamp issue, but need to soon for the MOT,
Got some LED lamps off Amazon, they work fine, but they are about 3-4mm too short in length, ok in width for the hole, but also a bit tall too,
The short length is the biggest problem as the lamp unit doesn’t stay clipped into the tailgate handle,
So has anybody fitted LED number plate lamps, and they fitted ok, and if you have, do you have any links to the relevant parts on the tinterweb, thanks

Is that not just the usual problem with buying "replacement parts" via ebay, I would have thought the smarter move would have been to source the correct p/n of LED versions of these number plate lights from ebay.

Surely someone has done this upgrade on MK5 Ibiza and has listed the correct VW Group p/n - or look up the usual VW Group parts listings, or even try Googling it as most VW Group marques will be using the same LED versions on their "top of the range model versions".

I did cross reference the original P/N with the ones I ordered off Amazon, I can get some the correct length, but the width is smaller then.
I did search on here for LED number plate lights, but nothing obvious came up, unless I wasn’t specific enough for the search on here
