I disagree with you slightly there Bill, but i see where your coming from. At every stage of me adding parts or changing parts for better ones i've got 1/4 mile times and RR print outs for nearly every stage and in my opinion it has been a good gauge of how much the car has improved along the way.

What would be your idea of a good gauge of a high powered fwd car?

as a gauge rolling accelerations...
50-100 in given gear type

think 8sec 0-100 times with a lot of scrabbling wheelspin... and imagine what 4wd would have been like..

1/4 is about lanuchs and technique as much as its power

Can't disagree with you there. But there's nowhere near to us up here that offers facilities for 50-100 rolling acceleration runs so the 1/4 will have to do.
