Oil filter housing

So my MK2 FR went for a service today, when the mechanic tried to take the oil filter out, he couldn't. Apparantly the person who done the service before I got the car, super glued the top of the oil filter housing (the bit where you loosen the housing to get to the oil filter) and when my mechanic tried to take it off, it just snapped.

My mechanic thinks that the plastic oil filter housing has got hot and basically melted/moulded to the metal so it won't come off.

In the end, because the old oil was out, we had to fill the car with the new oil (Quantum Platinum 5w40), but keep the old oil filter in there.

Has anyone experienced this? Do I just need a new oil filter housing?

You just need a new filter housing, you might have to get creative when removing the old one though without the bit where the socket goes :)

I'm in the same boat.
I always change the oil my self on all cars I've owned.
And since I didnt have a 36mm socket I improvised and ended up slightly breaking the lower part of the oil filter housing. Its a small crack but its there.

Dont know if I should fill up with oil.
Dont want to get a leak with a new oil in the engine.

Is the part thats used to tighten the housing separate from the rest of the housing.

Do you have a picture of your broken housing?
And anyone know how much is a new one, or maybe has a part number.

Hi mate, unfortunately you can't just get the part we snapped off by itself, it comes all as one oil filter housing which is approx £85 (quoted by my local TPS).

I haven't got a picture of it but I haven't done anything with it yet, I put in a bit of my new oil to make sure theres not a leak, there wasn't so I filled it up. I'm going to run it around a thousand miles then do another oil change along with the oil filter housing.

Goldie, I realize that the housing is one piece.
My thoughts were can it function even though the hexagonal piece is broken.

I filled a little of the new oil in the housing itself, and even though its not leaking now, I'm scared to fill up the engine with new oil, started and then to find out that it leaks.

Did you start your engine with the broken housing?

I found a part number for the housing on the MKV gti forum

06D 115 408B, and price is £42

Yeah same problem here mate. Managed to crack the housing a bit when opening it.
I managed to open it with general oilfilter tool that tightens around the whole filter.
If you have destroyed the 36mm bolt and can t find other way.
Thanks for the part numer, will help a lot.

If you realised its one piece, why did you ask lol?

Yep, I started my engine with the broken lower housing and it's fine. Have been driving around for a few weeks with no leak, just depends how bad you cracked it.

Cheers for the part number but I would double check to make sure its the same, not sure why TPS quoted me so much if it is the same one.

I was asking if it has some sort of double bottom, so I can be sure that it wont leak through the crack that happened on the hexagonal part.

Dont know how to explain that better in English since its not my native language.

Mine has a nice crack that spread away from the hex bottom.

Either way I filled up today with cheap oil, started the car and no leaks from the housing.

Didn't wanted to risk it with the Motul oil that I bought.

I ordered the housing from the local VW dealers today, its the same part number, and the cost is 60 Euros.

Part number for Cupra oil filter housing cap

hi, does anyone know the part number for the Seat Leon Cupra 240 BHP 2010 oil filter housing cap. I have been searching and making calls to several companies but have had no luck.

I have been told that this part number is for the FR and would not fit the Cupra. looks the same and has the same 36mm head to remove

Part number: 06D 115 408B (apparently not suitable for a 2.0 TFSI Cupra)

on servicing the car I have also found that the cap has obviously been over tightened and snapped so the removal socket can no longer be used

99.9% sure it's the same part, best bet is to ask Dave on this forum:

Anyone searching for the oil filter housing replacement part for a 2.0 Cupra TFSI (240BHP) 2010

the part number is: 06D115408B, code CDLD

Several codes are listed for this item. As suggested by richicupra I would recommend confirming the exact item with Dave using the link above
