Oldest Leon

I think I win the original game of this thread, mine is a June 2000 W-reg, so do I have the oldest Leon belonging to a Cupranet member? (or does it have to be a Cupra to qualify?).

I'm probably wrong but I can't see that the current Leon chassis has much more than 12 months of production life left.

It shares it floorpan with the Audi A3 (the old one) and the Golf IV. The Audi has already been replaced with a new A3 and the Golf V will be out in the third quarter of this year. Also, the R was released and it is common practice for the hottest models to be released towards the end of a cars life-cycle. Therefore, the Leon can't last much longer IMO.

Yep you're right there, look at VW, they just brought out the R32 and the IV will be replaced soon with the V.

Interestingly there is no 1.8T avail in the Audi A3, they've put the 3.2 V6 in the A3 now.

btw aren't we in the 4Q now ?

My across the road neighbour's wife has a W plate 1.6 in Lazuli blue.

My right side neighbour's son has a silver Ibiza TDi Sport (03 reg)

My wife has a V-plate Ibiza 1.4S Mk2

My left side neighbour's son's best mate has a W-plate Ibiza 1.4 cool(?)

There's a Mk1 Toledo TDi about 4 houses down the road.

It's like a flipping SEAT dealership in our road most of the time...

Maybe yours is the oldest, maybe not! Mine is first registered 2/6/2000 so is certainly May build, possibly earlier. Is yours MY00?

The Toledo was, until recently built in Belgium and they had far less quality problems than the Leon.

I have recently purchased an Aegean Blue Leon Sport 20vT.

First registered ... wait for it... 10th May 2000.

Does this make mine the oldest nearly-a-Cupra so far then ?
Perhaps, though I may have to check the chassis
number to make sure I beat Stu B :)

Okay so yours may be the oldest then.... However you havent had it since new, so I still think I have the silly award for that one :p

Pics of these old gilrs would be good to see how they have faired over the years.. I have to say that in the last year to 15months I have seen more Scratches appearing, and I have thought is the paintwork begining to show its age...
