overheating

hi all,

im hopeing one of you lovely lot have experianced this, while driving my car to work this morning my water temp gauge went up and the light come on so i pulled over straight away and the temp went straight down again i looked at the water and it had not used any atall, so i carried on to work with it not reading as high but the next line over 90, and the same problem occured on my way home from work but didnt read 120 it read the line just before and once again no water used could anyone help.

sounds like common symptoms of water pump breaking up! the water is not circulating therefore getting hot around the engine! the best way to tell is when the cars warm the two pipes going to the radiator will vary in heat!

Yeah sounds like the pump as gone.

would it not be making a funny noise or a horriblenoise if it was braking up though

Water pump impellor breaking up. You need a new water pump.

Will need cambelt changed aswell. always good practise
