parking sensors

Morning all. Currently got a 1.4 Leon fr and I'm not sure if my parking sensors are working correctly.when I drive forward or reverse, they will detect obstacles as they should do. However I noticed when I'm parked up,in neutral and handbrake applied with engine running, if someone walks past close to the car or the missus comes up to open the boot to put stuff in,the warning screen comes up highlighting the obstruction. Is this how it works,as it's a bit annoying. In my fl Octavia 2012, the reverse sensors are only active upon selecting reverse. Just like to know if these sensors are active 24/7 regardless even if the vehicle is stationary.
Thanks Richard

Yes, that is how it works. If its senses something when not in reverse it pops up with the mini diagram on the left of the screen.

On the other hand it only activates the front sensors if you turn them on as otherwise they will pick up cars in a traffic jam. Once switched on by selecting reverse they work at both ends until you move away.

Great system - I just wish they offered the auto park system which is on other VAG cars at not much more money.

My system it monitors the front and rear at all times, again as described with the mini display

It seems that when the mini display pops up it doesn't activate the bleepers and only gives the visual warning. It doesn't mute the audio either.

I can't find any settings that change this behaviour.

You can turn off auto in the menu to avoid it going off in traffic. However even with it off if you do reverse or manually activate it and then sit stationery it stays on until you drive away.
