Passenger window has dropped - help! - Leon mk3

Hi

I have a 2014 Leon and the front passenger window, when closing, made an awful bang within the door and the window dropped. When operating the window switch the motor can be heard working, but I believe the cables have snapped and the regulator needs replacing.

SEAT dealers are closed and I have no idea what to do. If I take door cards off, will I have access to the glass so I can lift it up and prop it with something so it remains closed and atleast I can use my car?

I am able to order the removal tools for the door panel and replacement clips, but don't want to waste my time if I can't then access the glass directly.

To freely lift the glass, would I need to disconnect anything else?

Any help appreciated thanks

Ps. Any idea what this would cost at a dsaler or a local garage?

Hi

Yes if you remove the door card then the circle rubber grommets at the top of the door and the big square rubber and speaker you will have access to all the nuts to remove the window and the regulator

You should then be able to push your window back up although you will need to support it somehow or it will fall back down.

If the motor is fine and you are ok with a bit of DIY knowledge you can probably fix this yourself.

Buy a window regulator from somewhere like autodoc.co.uk enter your reg number and search for one, they cost about £30 to £60.

Then remove the regulator and replace, this vids for a Arona but the principal is the same

It will likely take a few hours, main dealer would probably charge around £3/400 maybe including part.

You could probably do it at home in about 2/3 hours for around £80 including the regulator and door clips as these sometimes break so always handy to have some spares.

So I managed to get it all off

Waiting for the regulator to be delivered but in the mean time so I can use my car, I managed to prop the window closed

Used a bit of wood and then used the existing regulator track holes as a way to bolt it in place. The wood is pressed right up against the clips which hold the window in place.

Question

How will I remove the glass, if the regulator isn't working? The video shows how to use the regulator to your advantage to help you unclip the glass

May need to get an extra pair of hands to help you lower and raise the window and hold it at the correct height then you can put the trim removal tool into the clips holding the window from the top like the video to unclip and remove the glass.
