Pd170 poor mpg

My Leon PD170 is getting rubbish mpg, struggling to get 40 mpg on the motorway.

Seems to idle lumpy and smells of fuel on cold start with some white smoke as well

I have access to vcds if that's of any help

Check the usual culprits:

Injectors
Turbo actuator diaphragm isn't split
N75 valve works
Vacuum hoses aren't split
Boost pipes aren't leaking
Intercooler isn't leaking
EGR valve isn't full of rubbish
