Common problem, not death of the car time just need to put a new pedal box in.

they look the same, and part numbers for the 2 cars match up, but im wondering why theres an acc pedal attached when this isnt part of the pedal box?

may aswell just go to the dealer and get one tbh, its pretty much the same price after youve paid for delivery, and at least you know its a brand new, dealer item...

Part number and price of part you need

from doing the clutch cable a while ago, i seem to remember it just being a hole in the bulk head the cable goes through, and a plastic lug rests on the outside. If this is the case you could just buy a piece of thickish sheet metal and drill the same size hole in it, and put it over the hole in the bulkhead...

same problem happens on mk1 golfs, and theres a repair piece that is exactly this concept for its repair, simply just bonds to the bulkhead

the seats are ok, no rips or fag burns. the drivers seat could do with a clean but the rest are ok. the bolsters in the drivers seat are ok aswell. the driver side door card isnt to clever but will repair, will do it before it goes. hope this helps. oh and got a set of red seat belts aswell but will want £40 for them.

When you changed your pedal box without removing the column, did you need to unbolt it from the UJ and swing it out the way or did you leave the whole column alone?

My clutch pedal has gone from slightly awkward, to jerky, to sticking to the floor to creaking in the space of a week, so I'm guessing it's about to die on me!

Thanks,

Stuart

Pull out the lower glove box and remove the tray underneath, get some light in there and operate the clutch with your hand while monitoring what the pedal box is doing.

If its moving around get it welded in situ, bolted or replaced if its not then chances are its your cable.

ive got an adjustable steering column which i dropped to its lowest position... left the UJ alone, and just undid every bolt attached to the pedal box, and the bracket holding the far right of the box which iirc is under the carpet a bit but pretty obvious when your down there... to get the old pedal box out it took some jiggery pokery to get the brake pedal through the hole (which again youll see when you do it) but it is possible...
