Some of you may know I have had an ongoing issue with my 2014 Cupra 280 DSG

The engine 'hunts' when coming to a stop (dropping D2 to D1)

Here are some YouTube videos of the problem. The main one is when I'm rolling in traffic not touching the brake or accelerator.

The car has been to the dealers 3 times for them to find the fault but to no avail.

They scan the ecu for faults, none found , and flash it for updates. The problem then goes away for a few weeks and then comes back.

SEAT UK have now told me that it's a characteristic of the car. Make your own mind up from the videos!

So if any of you have a 2014 Cupra 280 DSG can you post a video of you car coming to a stop or rolling in traffic and I'll go back to them with it and prove its not a characteristic.

Thanks

That is in no way characteristic of the car. I had this issue (albeit not as bad as that) and my dealer changed the coolant pump and something else (I think it was you I gave the warranty worksheet for the repair to!?). Since then my issue has been solved.

Your issue is something worse than mine. It will either be:

1. Throttle controller
2. Gearbox

You should demand a new gearbox because this is in my opinion the faulty component. You know, I would also lie through my teeth and tell them my car accelerated randomly at a roundabout nearly killing me. Do whatever it takes to get a new gearbox and don't settle for anything else. Watching with interest.

There a chance you could send to me please? I also have it where it revs up

Well mine is a 2014 too but not has this behaviour.
Looks like the clutch is disengaging and engaging again with throttle up a bit.
Must be a fault and first time I read about this.
Dealers must solve this problem as some others already posted.

What's the issue in video 1?
The other two, not a characteristic to the car. I've an early 2014 cupra dsg and don't have the issue.

The issue with the short video is:
when I come to a full stop the revs rise between 1500/2000 rpm before dropping into D1.

The other two are taken rolling in traffic and I'm not touching brake or accelerator.

When I first got the car and after subsequent reflashes it doesnt do it. Theyre is a small blip but nothing noticeable.

Anyway it's back!

Time for a change, me thinks!

Seat need to re-calibrate your DSG box. Ask them that, get them to do it and it should be gold as there's nothing wrong with the box i.e. no nasty sounds, however it's slipping the clutch and RPM's at the wrong point!

Get your dealer to view this page and perhaps make a poll asking us whether or not it's characteristics or on them lines..?

Mine is 2015, but I think I had the problem once - when it was very new - and not had it repeat since. So I agree - it's definitely not a "feature"!!

There's pretty common in the US forums that theyve discovered that the dsg isn't properly filled with fluid causing different errors. Could be worth investigating.
