Poll-fan fuse on battery melted/replaced or not?

In conjunction with the thread running re fire.
How many peeps have had this part fail or be replaced.
melted fuse holder on the battery. Controls the fans amongst other things.

I've voted no but from looking, water has got inm there at some point.
It's only a matter of time before it'll need replacing.

Must say, this fire thing has really caught my attention and I am concerned!

corrosion = higher resistance = more current for the same power consumption = melting..........

Big question is why? and what are VAG/SEAT UK going to do when this results in fire?

i am not convinced it damp. its in a hot engine bay, has no means of easily getting water onto it....
galvanic corrosion however from 'iffy' plating on some parts etc and that to me is just as likely if not more so.
worth checking for earths and good contacts, as small potentials can create the cells from which corrosion starts.

My A/C stopped working. I knew that it isn't the gas or some other malfunction as the AC symbol wasn't blinking. Opened the fusebox on the battery and one of the three green (!) 30A fuses was melted (a bit of the fusebox itself too). It isn't a severe damage, replaced the fuse (applied some contact spray on fusebox's contacts) and will check regularly.

What about sticking a clean one on & lubing it up to prevent oxidisation?

assuming the fan draws less current than the fuse rating....
