Hi Everone!
I know this hs been mentioned before, but the reverse light is really poor in the altea!

has anyone got a fix for this?
I was sat up last night thinking if i got one of them very bright LED light clusters for it that you can buy, would it make any difference?

Thoughts?

Thanks

Chris

I may try and fit a bright spotlight to the rear undertray or back axle of the car, obviously it'll only light up the bottom 6" from the floor, but should highlight stuff more than the standard effort? :)

Why not trust in the experience of quite a few german board users ... :D

They've fitted one of the following (either/or ... said to be almost same)

12V 50w BA15s US 795:
or
12V 50w BA15s US 795X:

like displayed in this shop (sorry, no UK-shop spotted on the first Google-results page)
=> http://www.bulbtown.com/795X_HALOGEN_MINIATURE_BULB_BA15S_BASE_p/795x.htm

.... and no side-effects (ECU-warning or overheating) so far ... besides: brighter reverse light :funk:

greets ... Klaus

Can't understand why people think that the purpose of reverse lights are so that you can see where you are going in the dark when reversing ?

The sole purpose is to warn other road users that you are reversing and in my opinion the Altea reverse light is more than adequate for that job.

1) Why are they white then.. (like your front lights.. to see where you are going when you are traveling forwards at night...)

2) How do you see where you are going when reversing at night?

All of my previous cars have had very bright reverse lights and i could see where i was going without a problem...

After having good reverse lights on my Xantia and my 200sx,going to candles really hinder you in the night!
Warning others may be the "Main" reason, but i've got an s shaped drive to get out of and on a cold winters morning at 5 am,it ain't fun in the Altea :headhurt:

1) They are white to differentiate from the brake lights / indicators

2) Don't have that problem personally, I'm good at parking :D

I would like to think I am good at parking also but do appreciate some light when manoeuvring in the dark when there is no other light around.

I used to live in a village where there was hardly any street lighting and it was always a pain trying to reverse in or out of my drive even with parking sensors.

My wife's basic spec Honda Jazz has two bright reversing lights --- in fact just one of these would give ample light.

The reversing light was one of the reasons I have ordered an XL rather than a regular Altea for my next car.;)

And before you think i'm mr slow,i have a 330 BHP 200sx for the weekend and track days!

So not wanting to sound that i'm blowing my own trumpet! If you can't see,how the :censored: can you reverse well at night? Spiritual guidance

Totally agree!

If they could reverse into my drive at night (without hitting anything) round here with no street lights and tinted rear windows without any aid of light from the car then bloody hell they deserve a medal! U can do it with your eyes shut as well i assume? :censored:

PDH 14A: fancy teaching me some advance driving? its something i have always wanted to do! :D

Cheers! Off round the Nuremberg ring in 2 weeks in the Altea! cant want!
Dont intent to go fast though, just want to do a lap to say i have done it!

What course did you take for your advance driving?

Back to the drive! I am about to get round to fitting some floor level sensors at the gates and fitting some more lights!
I work in security, (well for another 2 days anyway - new job!!) and have just finished setting up my CCTV system, which also could do with some good lights in places!

I done the advanced course through my mothers works (free at the time) About 10 hour lessons!

Take your time round the ring, Iwas behind a mate in a BMW 325 who crashed at 25mph (i kid you not) it cost him £1400 for new barriers and a tow! without the cost of his repairs
I would look into track insurance for a day,as the ring is really slippery at this time of year,i went the first week of April last year, and it was like driving on ice
