Power from standard turbo PD150

I'm looking at getting my Leon Cupra PD150 remapped at some point and was wondering what is the highest power achievable on a standard turbo as I don't want to go to the expense of a hybrid/BT or anything.

I have a custom cold air feed, EGR vac pipe blanked off and will be removing the back box before having a remap. Are there any other worthwhile mods to do to get the most from the standard turbo?

Any info will be greatly appreciated :)

I'm planning on getting the blacksmoke DIY remap sometime soon. Seems to be a performance bargain if the reviews are anything to go by.

£45 for remap file and £12 lead required. claimed 182bhp

Excellent, glad to hear it. People think because the car feels faster and has more poke it's a good thing but you don't know what's going on inside or if long term damage is being done.

I agree I wouldn't want limits being pushed when u can go to lower safer limits with more reassurance the simple saying comes to mind YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

Just my opionion

The stock GT1749VB found on the PD150 ARL is good from 190-195bhp safely.

A good custom remap is always recommended, especially considering some of these cars have been messed around with or have slight underlying issues (incorrectly adjusted turbochargers, injector issues ect) and we have seen an increasing number of 'generic' remaps causing major problems. Most Mk4 Golfs / Leons etc are over 10 years old so it always makes sense to have it checked over before adding another 45bhp.

£200 saved now could cost a lot further down the line. We speak to customers every day who wish they had just done the job right the first time.

Thanks

Scott

Cheers Scott, just what I wanted to know :D what supporting mods would be needed to achieve the top end of that power? And are there any cost effective ways of increasing the power from the turbo besides BT and £0000s in parts/work?

I agree with the proper remap route, want a consistent, usable and safe amount of power when the time comes.

Ok cheers mate :) I'm debating whether to leave it for now and save up for the BT stuff in future, get my exhaust done, de-cat downpipe and remapped to the limit of this turbo (as it is my daily) OR just get my backbox removed, stage 1 remap and then save for the BT stuff on top of that....decisions!
