i think the standard 0-100 time is 24.4 secs, with a remap you should see 100 in 20secs or less?

standing quarter for standard is 16.5secs

I'd say those times were pretty accurate on the Gtech, but the terminals seem a couple of mph high. If I'd bothered stripping my car and running on fumes, I'd have seen 14.5 secs without a doubt, maybe 1 or 2 mph more terminal. 2.2 sec 60 foot time for the record.

Your terminal seems pretty low for 200bhp/302lb/ft, mine was at 95mph on my standard map, I know it pulls much harder through the gears now after the remap and think it'll be around the 100mph mark through the 1/4. Your 60ft time's the same as mine though (slow as 5hit :D ;) )

My last car was pulling 107.9mph, 60ft in 1.5s & 1/4 in 12.59s :funk:

My times were recorded on Crail's 1/4 mile equipment, imported from the States a couple of years ago to the tune of ~£5k so it's reasonably accurate although the surface is p1ss poor for grip - as any of the Straightliners crew will confirm from their visit last year - they were reporting times approx 0.5s slower than other UK strips, and they should know.

I think that I could probably improve my times and indeed terms by actually shifting up earlier on the strip, but old (petrol) habits die hard. I don't think there's anything wrong with the terminal of the beetha, as my old fiat coupe used to make 97-98 mph with 220 odd bhp and 1 less gear change. I think before you and I can accurately compare we need to have the cars timed on the same strip - of course.

As for the 60 ft time you're doing pretty well in a fwd in road trim, unstripped to get 2.3 seconds, very good to get a 2.2 and fantastic to get a 2.1 . To get sub 2.1's you really need slick/semi slick tyres and a lightened/stripped out racing snake. R5 turbos will do ridiculous 60 foot times like 1.7 seconds when well sorted.

For reference, the clio v6 does a 2.2 sec 60 foot time when 'launched' by side stepping the clutch at 4,500 rpm.

Was yours chipped when we had a play? Can't imagine Crail being 0.5 slower than other tracks if thats the case id run a 13.6 in my current spec. You planning on heading upto Crail in February when it re-opens? I'll be heading up with my next round of mods and will be hoping to hit a 13.7/8.

we are working out how we can remove the panels from the car for next time.. weight is time!!!

at the time i was on standard 14 inch gti rims with pirelli P700 tyres! i think my car has got the perfect power to weight balance for launching.

I do exactly the same, gotta redline that gear...then think damn, where's the power gone at 4.5k

I think in order to get down below 2.0s 60ft times, realistically you need an LSD to put the power down. An R5 GTT doing 1.7s 60ft times? Can't be many of them about...that's close to my Pulsar GTiR 60ft & probably simialr to most Imprezas

Clio V6's just don't impress me, so much potential, but poorly executed...I raced the Fast Car boys at crail a few years ago when they had theirs & whooped them no problem in my MR2 Roadster which was doing 14.9's....much better with a Clio 172/182 IMHO. (unless you plan on doing major mods).

Neil, yep it was remapped at that point, which is one of the reasons you pulled away out of that corner - my clutch was slipping like hell  which is why it's on the standard map at the moment.

I'll probably make an appearance at Crail next year, have done every year since it began :funk: although depending on my next house move I may be in a different car (petrol for the strip :D ) and hopefully back down under the 'teens' ;)

Cheers

when my car was standard i went to pod and put the G-Tech on and i got 15.06 on the G-Tech and 15.01 on the pod timers so pretty accurate.

Ok I have added one of these babies to my 'Christmas Wish List' as nobody has a clue what to get me  ... I hope it's not too late to see Santa coming with it in his sack - just hope he doesn't test it in his sledge 1st :p

Seen them for £35, do you think it's worth the money? or should I put a different model on my list?

MrM - the 5's running those 60 ft times are on drag slicks and will weigh about 550 kg at a guess. Think the best 1/4 for a UK 5 is now 11.4 seconds at Santa Pod, crazy.

i paid £30 for mine from e-bay i think. with regards to acceleration it does 0-60mph and 1/4 mile. some of the more expensive ones do 0-100mph i think but there alot more money.

Looks good - nice chart ;)

Makes your 106 look very good anyway ... not much off the pace of a MR2 Turbo and quicker than 25th anniversary Golfs with Revo :worship: & a VR6!!!

Yep this on my my Christmas list

yeah but it's only a 0-60mph list. alot of those cars up the top would beat me as the speeds get higher. the REVO golf anniversary is a very good race with me to 100mph+ and the other REVO golf you see on there has got 19" audi rims on his car thats why he's not as quick.

i can sit next to my mates MR2 turbo till about 90-100mph then he starts pulling.
