Im loving the quote from Ian Harrison - Vauxhall Team Principal in todays Telegraph

Article reads as follows:

Vauxhall team principal Ian Harrison has hit out at his big money drivers after the teams disastrous start to the BTCC season. "both the drivers (Giovanardi and Chilton) have done a rubbish job and they both need to up their game. You cant do a decent lap time when your cars in the wall"

Page S18 in the Sports section, Sub paragraph Motor racing

He he have that Chilton....:D

nail on the head - they stumped up a lot of cash on an unknown & an unreliable.

Chilton can be good, but spent most of the previous two seasons being way too aggressive behind the wheel & making his tyres go off midway through. He sorted it out a bit towards the end of 2005.

Giovanardi just isn't earning what he's being paid. but then if you 'force' someone's setup onto another driver then it'll not be right

that & they'll admit the Astra Sport Hatch isn't the right car, but fits the marketting bill - and it's a lash up of BTCC/S2000 specs

I had to laugh when their post-Oulton press release said "VX Racing back to championship-winning form".

I couldn't understand after Brands, when Harrison said that the drivers had their own ideas for setup and they didn't work, so they'd be reverting to the 2005 setup, which was really designed for Muller's unique driving style.

The sad losers keep clinging onto the belief that, as the first BTCC-spec car home in the first race at Brands, they were actually the winners. I think if they consult the record-books, they will find that Jimmie Thompson was the winner

I think the Vectra owners at Oulton Park summed up the season for Vauxhall, they were complaining they weren't at the front of the club parking. :D

Like i said on Sunday morning, when your running at the sharp end of the championship, you can have the front of the club parking :p

Aren't i glad i did an Yvan Muller ans defected from Vauxhall at the beginning of the year. I do have to say the astra sport hatch touring car, in my opinion, is the ugliest car on the grid. Vauxhall did actually develop the vectra for the btcc after they retired the astra coupe, i guess it was a marketing ploy, but losing Muller to their biggest rivals will hurt them.

They built a Vectra when they were deciding which car to use, but in the end thought it was too big, so went for the Astra SportHatch. I bet they're wishing they had gone with it in the end. I imagine they'll need even more money from the paydrivers for 2007, with the news from Ellesmere Port this week.

It's probably the only newish car in their range which is suitable. It wouldn't make sense to go down the Vectra route, as that's due a replacement in the next year or so.

Indeed they do,hence the vectras in the DTM.For some reason it was cheaper for them to run the astra in the btcc and it was newer. Mind you the meriva is new and has 5 doors....................;) .

I wonder if they'll develop the BTCC astra into S2000, or if they'll use something else.
