    Hello people,
Re: seat Leon cupra tfsi 2008

Just plugged my diagnostics kit in and it's come up with random/multiple misfire detected and then it says cylinder 1 misfire detected at 837rpm (idle)

Strangely enough I had coil pack one changed last week and 4 new spark plugs but during the week the exhaust has been farting away on idle, so what could be the cause for cylinder 1 failing again.

I know one thing I'll be going back to Andrew page and demanding they replace the damaged coil pack.:handbags:

Is the coil pack seated correctly and the wiring harness all plugged back in? Just worth a quick check (in case you haven't already looked)

As said above, also was it a cheaper coil pack, try swapping them around to see if it moves to a different cylinder

Thanks for the replies guys. I will see the outcome when it comes out the garage tomorrow. They wasn't cheap parts they was Bosch spark plugs and coil packs. I was thinking about upgrading to the r8 spark plugs and coils??

"R8" coil packs are exactly the same, just red.

Your joking me so the coil packs are no different.

Had my car back today after having 1 coil pack changed. The car still continues to misfire I can here it blato from the exhaust. Do you think that it could be the fact that I've changed 1 and its reacting to the other 3.

Im so confused whether to take it to seat to get it diagnosed even though there's no lights on the dash or is it worth changing all 4

As mentioned above, move the new coil pack to another cylinder and see if the misfire follows it.

And for the love of god dont take it to Seat. Find a VAG specialist near to you instead

Maybe a valve, usually the engine light would flash, or even stay on if it's a coilpack, no lights etc usually mean mechanical

Why shouldn't i take it to seat. I was thinking about taking it there to get the diagnostics done but then getting the work done elsewhere. I've moved the coils around and the misfire still follows.

Theres so many things im hearing E.G Injectors, wiring harness, valves, people are saying change all 4 even though it was only one coil that went, different branded coil that could of done it.

To be honest before the coil pack went i never experienced any misfire until the coil pack was changed.

Is the misfire always on the same cylinder, or on whichever cylinder the new coil pack is fitted in?

Hi Rich, only had the car for just over 3 months, Cylinder one constantly fails, as mentioned above before the Cylinder was changed everything was fine, ever since its went its been a nightmare. Easily doing 40 misfires in one minute.

Another thing The car also only misfires on idle. As soon as it's driving its fine

My experience with main dealers of all makes is shite to say the least.

There ok for servicing and selling new or nearly new cars in my opinion, and thats about it. The amount of times i have been shocked at there seeming lack of knowledge or incompetance is alarming to say the least. If they dont get a bulletin on it from head office it doesn't exist

You would be much better off taking it to a reputable vag specialist for diagnostics

    Again just my opinion.

Take it to midland vw in cannock that's where I get all my work done, do not take it to shitty Barlow motors seat.

Check the wiring from the plug, could have broke a wire' if it's there all the time and was fine before the coilpack went but I'd still have thought it would show up cylinder 1, if there's nothing there id have thought mechanical, could it not even be timing,

Hello the timing belt was only changed on 56000 it's now on 59000, doesn't misfire when driving just on idle.

I have booked the car in to midland WV in cannock, hopefully find out what's up.
