Sounds a bit mental but saw a VW specialist doing pop out cameras that hide behind the VW logo rear latch. Pop it into reverse, the logo lifts up and out pops the camera. Have seen this working on beemers when parking and it looks great.
Anyone do a Seat version?

I may be being a bit dense, not having had my full quota of coffee yet, but on a SEAT, if your logo lifts up for the camera, wouldn't the boot open?

Yeah I get that. Kinda thought it was the same kind of latch on the VW but I might be wrong..

Possibly the handle doesn’t open enough to disengage the hatchback latch? One of the pictures show it in part open position.

Valid point, but I wonder how much variation there is between cars?
Here's our ST - at this point the tailgate has just unlatched.

I must admit that the VW idea is much better than the one on my Leon ST which gets very dirty or wet so the image on screen is blurry.

Fairly sure Mercedes have been doing their reversing cameras this way for a while, keeps all the road dirt and crud off the lens as it's tucked away until needed.

A relay is used so when you engage reverse and the camera is active (it's best to have a button for the camera to work whenever you want it), the switch of the Seat logo doesn't work. So there is no chance the boot will open when the camera pops up, if we assume that you were backing up and your doors were unlocked (because if the doors are locked the boot wouldn't open anyway).

Aha!
All becomes crystal clear. Thanks for the info.

Those are not that reliable. Wifes friend had a new Aerton thingy (spelling?) and within 3 days the latch is stuck open. Has to go back for warranty now.

I see so many VW's with the latch stuck open that I'm glad I don't have it. Looks daft.
