Rear light fault.

Having a problem with the inner(tailgate) rear light, it just stops working, no power to the fitting, we closed up cover and tailgate drove round the block and it lights up! I know the reverse light only works with the tailgate shut but this taillight is doing my head in, any ideas? I hate intermittent faults.

You may have a broken wire in the rubber cover where the wires come from the car to the tailgate

Shove a multimeter in the connector and wiggle the wire round a bit, make sure it's getting power.
