Hello,

Sorry for posting again I'm trying to get a few jobs sorted on the old girl. So I have a relay that needs replacing and I've seen on here that you have to remove lower section under the steering wheel, it only seems to effect the interior light and the door handle illuminations, my question is what relay do I need to buy to replace it does anyone know. I will probably be posting some more aswell. I have looked for a diagram of what dos what but only seem to be finding the fuel pump relay.

Thanks

Jason

http://www.icecavern.com/howtos/leonlowerdashtrim/main.php shows how to get to the relays and fuse box, however I think it's probably just a fuse rather than a relay, as i'm not sure there is a relay just for interior the lighting. It's probably fuse #3 or #14.

I have checked and replaced the fuse, it was good but I replaced it anyway. It's definitely a clicking noise I can hear by the ignition barrel. I have taken a video of it but I can't upload it as the file is too big.

It's a little strange because my radio still works and my lighter socket and I thought that was all on the same fuse/relay.

Shame I can't upload the clip.

Thanks for the reply.

Sorry I didn't realise it was flashing, i thought you meant it just didn't work. Yeah from the look of it that looks like the relay latching and unlatching. You should be able to feel it clicking if you rest your finger on it

I can't really make it out on the video, but does it sound anything like the indicator relay clicking?

Yes sort of but it's a lot louder.

If all else fails, have a look at the hazard module. When I got my car, I'd get random relay sounds, especially after indicating. I had someone follow me to make sure my indicators weren't just randomly flashing when the relay sounded, and nothing was happening, but when I took it to an electrician, they traced it back to the hazard module. I have no idea why it would have been that, but in the twelve years since, I've not had any trouble at all.

I was always driving when it made the sound, so I can't say if the interior lights would have been flashing while it was happening, but stranger things and everything - sometimes it's the last thing you expect.

Is it safe to do that I thought 1 was a live feed to the battery?

Yeah it's safe enough as long as you're careful not to touch the feeds where they come in at the bottom of the relay panel with a spanner or something. The voltage is very low, so its not like it's going to arc.

If you wanted to be extra safe then disconnect the battery before you take them out. If it was me i'd just leave the battery connected and then you will be able to hear/feel which one it is.
