Hey everyone! I just wondered if anyone has any recommendations on who to go to for a remap, I've looked around but can't make up my mind
I'm steering towards having a celtic tuning one because it has pretty good figures and it's only 295
Any help would be appreciated thankyou :D

210 bhp and 203 lb/ft the only thing I'm worried about is since they come to your house then you don't have a rolling road

That's not bad figure to be honest, would that just be the map and nothing else?

Why are you worried about no rolling road? With the money saved being cheaper you could find a local RR and get them to test it once mapped.

If unsure pay the extra and have it done somewhere who'll do before and after

Thats just their base figure for a remap with everything on the car standard but they have said that they can do more custom ones as well for the same price just talk to the person doing it when the arrive
Yeah I suppose I could do really, with saving at least £100 pounds from other places

As well, make sure you're going for a reputable tuner rather than just the lowest price. You are modifying something which cost a lot of money, make sure the product that's being used is as good as it can be.

BTW, in no way am I saying Celtic aren't reputable, I've never used them before so they could be fantastic!

They seem pretty good, the way they do it by having qualified technicians all over England and one who is closest I presume will come out to you

Why not give them a good. I'm assuming they will have a 14 day period where if you're not happy they'll return your car to stock and refund you (worth checking). If so, get it on the RR within this time and see what it can make

Yeah they do I think it's either 14 days or a month
And they have a warranty which will cover you if your car has a mechanical fault after having their remap which seems good
And I'll have to look around at where I can get a RR session then

    You sure about that?
Because most companies have a warranty that covers just the tune.

The terms say a 12 month Warren on mechanical failures from the date of the tune and 24 month on the software? I assumed that covered you for any mechanical issues?

Having a quick look at their terms and conditions it seem that the warranty only applies if your car is still under the manufactures original warranty. Also only for faults which are refused warranty repair because of the remap.

There are a lot of other conditions which limited the scope of the celtic tuning warranty though it is alot more than you would get from any other tuning companies. It would be madness for them to offer a 12 month warranty to all customers. There are so many variables involved when mechanical failures happen most of which can't be blamed on the remap alone.

I wouldn't let that put you off getting the remap as I said it's a better warranty deal than you'll get anywhere (that I know of anyway) but you just need to be realistic. Chances are if you get it remapped you'll love the results and wonder why you didn't do it sooner, I know I did.

I got my 2.0 Tdi remapped from 140 up to 186 on the rolling road. I could of gone higher but was a bit cautious with it, now I wish I'd pushed it above 200. I used a local tuning firm (Auto-tune) in northern ireland on recommendation. It was not just the power increase it was the how the map delivers the power. Nice and smoothly but if i give the boot it becomes more aggressive in its power delivery. Transformed the car.

having long thinks about it and I dont want an ecu flash like what awesome gti offer even thow its an APR map... I find it madness how they pull your ecu out and just map it and plug back in.. to me it should be on the rolling road and mapped accordingly checking the fueling out with mods on the dyno

think i am going to try r-tech there supposed to be ultimate hmmmm

I don't think he'd touch it and I doubt he'd do a live emulated map either.

APR is one of the best products available as is revo. The process that a reseller of their software uses has been developed to work in that manner because the R&D and live emulation have already been carried out. There's not that many variables that a modern ecu can't adjust to anyway.
It may come as news to some but many companies who claim to carry out custom maps don't, most don't even write their own software.
