Hello

only had the car a short time and the dealer is still working on this one, they are trying to wriggle out of it. i wondered what you guys think

the car originaly came with another headunit no idea which one but was retrofitted with a RNS315 when we bought it ( was one of the selling points) however it isnt quite right.
1. it wont delete destination history
2. it wont save home location
3. phone bluetooth pairing cant be done on unit has to be done through dashboard

sat nav works just forgets where you were going if you stop for fuel etc.

from my research on here it looks like there maybe more than one bluetooth module and one needs disabling? but that wouldnt fix the sat nav history etc

the dealers latest line was " you might not be able to delete history"

any suggestions are welcome. ive borowed a cable and got vcds if that helps

Bluetooth on the RNS-315 is built-in, so if you've got a separate module it could be confusing things.

No idea on the destination history problem though

I retrofitted the same headunit on mine the Bluetooth module is built in on this unit, look under the drivers seat see if the car comes with a module already installed if so this would be the cause it may be interfering with the 1 built in if you pull the headunit out the big plug should have a green section in it if it has not then they haven't retrofitted the Mic. If I can help with anything else on this give me a shout

Thanks for the replies guys. i havent had the unit out yet and i doubt the "specialist" the dealer took it to did either. i will get chance this weekend to pull it out.

@DannyallenFR - did you have to do any coding after retrofit?

Cheers

No coding pal just swap the unit and wire the Mic in through the headlini g down the a pillar and into the back

So pulled the unit out today. and there does appear to be a green plug as per pictures 20181202_114919.jpg 20181202_114727.jpg . everything looks ok. when i plugged back in it asked for the code, and whilst i was trying to remember if i had seen one, it just booted into the system without the code. which i thought was odd.
before powering back on i had located the bluetooth module under the seat and unplugged it.

unfortunately the battery has died on the car so cant do anymore troubleshooting. battery charger on order.

Any luck yet? That is strange it just booting up without the code after asking for it, I know mine asked for the code once but then if I unplugged it it wouldn't ask again unless unplugged for a long time.

update

yesterday i left the unit out for 5mins then put back in, it asked for the code and i put it in but made no difference it still wont clear old destinations and store new ones. i am thinking it may be a defective unit.

after removing the under seat bluetooth module i was able to pair the phone directly to the rns 315 without using the dash, however the mic didnt seem to be working despite having the green plug.

@DannyallenFR - where should the mic be in the roof?

also the battery is fubar after being charged all day. :-( not having much luck so far.

thank you

The Mic is in the light unit in the front centre easy to remove just clips holding it in place, it does sound as if it may be defective I never tried to clear mine tbh.
