Morning guys

Yesterday I fitted a 2009 rns510 headunit to my 56 plate leon and this morning the battery is completely dead. I had a funny feeling that I would get the dreaded battery drain issue.

What do I need to do to stop the battery drain.

Thanks in advance

Just had a quick read through and a couple of things I found are

My steering wheel controls work with the unit

And when my ignition is switched off my cig lighter turns off, it seems that if these both features are as mine are I shouldn't get a battery drain. Will have to do some more reading I think

I seem to have found the canbus module I need to purchase to stop the battery drain, thanks to another thread on here.

My next question is, when I have fitted the replacement module will I be able to use the car until I get around to having the new module coded. I don't have access to vag com and the only vag specialist around my way closed for business last year.

I have read that ideally I should hook vag com up and make a note of the systems activated on the current module and then copy these onto the replacement module.

Will the car be useable without the new module being coded to the car?

I have a 56 plate so mine is accessed through a hatch located under the drivers side wiper motor.

Remove key from ignition

Remove negative terminal from battery

Remove both wiper arms

Remove plastic trim at base of windscreen.

Remove scuttle trim located at back of engine bay which runs the length of the windscreen.

Remove drivers wiper motor

You will see a plastic hatch with three nuts, undo these and it will reveal some insulation foam, break through the foam and you will see the module. Unplug it and pulls out.

06 and older sometimes have it located under the dash above the clutch pedal, which is nightmare to get access to by all accounts.

I followed a guide on r32 owners forum.

Took about 40 mins in total to remove and refit everything
