Rims REFURB Progress

hey

before christmas i got sum TT rims that badly needed refurbing sooo yeah i started heres some works photos i thourght id share...

1st step strip em!!!

then this is what it looks after 2 coats hae been removed

then the finished result

then all four! now tomorrow to spray them matt black then refit the tyres...

What did you use to strip them mate ?!? Nitromors or something like that ?!?

Did you have any scuffs to smooth out or was it just the paint that needed fixing?

yeah i used nitromorrs

there was sum kerbing but i used sand paper to smooooth it all out

Arr good old Nitromors, my neighbour offered me some of that to clean my rear lights, me as well as him didnt read the tin, and 10 minutes later, my lights were nicely disolving ! strong stuff that

DAMN this stuff is strong.. my hands are still burning from it... i got some in a cut too ouch!

I remember a few years ago using Nitromors to strip the paint off my Mountain Bike... did it in the shed where my sister kept her Gerbils....... Next morning they were very 'stiff' gerbils !!! Oops !!

I rememberseeing them in the 4 sale section. You've done a good job and should look even better when they're sprayed up. Are you gonna keep them as a spare set for the tack and winter driving?

Ah, so the paint stripped off ok then!!

Something that probably made those easier to strip was, when I had them, I took off all of the original coating, which was some plasticy type stuff and a good few mm thick!! Took ages to do!! So all that you had to strip this time was literally paint and primer!!

If you are putting new valves in ... stick some of the "flush" ones in ... they help the overall look

There is a VDub with Black TT wheels that parks up at Hellfrauds near me... look VERY good

damn i wish i used flush type... i used normal ones.. but they are metal ohh well..

If you are doing them black .. you should have put black ones in ....
