Hi all! :D

Not posted on here in a long time, been very busy trying to build up my detailing business for the last couple of years. Been running around in a 1.2 S Ibiza for the last year, but this weekend I purchased a metallic grey 07 Mk2 Leon 2.0 TDi 140 Stylance with the DSG gearbox. I fancied something different hence going for the DSG, heard alot of good things about it and it is SO smooth to drive, very nice indeed. :)

Anyway, I thought I would post up pics of this car and the jobs needing done on it. Like all 2nd-hand cars it needs some TLC, but the paint is in excellent condition and it came with a full and comprehensive service history, 2 previous owners, all old MOTs and tax discs, taxed and MOT'd, HPI clear so it's all good. Drives very well, no funny noises or clunks, rattles nothing.

First job was to replace the offside rear outer tail light, which had both corners broken off it:

Got a replacement unit off Ebay for £30, so cleaned it up, cleaned up and sealed the aperture with acrylic sealant then fitted the replacement unit.

I machine polished all of the rear lights to remove all of the scratches and marks then sealed them up with acrylic sealant. Look like new now!

Will I modify it? Not really, I'll never do another car like my old Leon - but I will tidy it up and get it in top-notch condition, make some small subtle changes but that's about it.

It needs the alloy wheels refurbished and a couple of small dents sorted. I'd like to change the exhaust tips for something a wee bit larger and stainless steel to look better. It will have a full machine polish correction detail and ceramic coating, interior is in excellent condition just needs a clean. Brake calipers and hubs will be rubbed down and painted in silver and/or black.

Great work on the rear lights.

I need to machine polish mine. I tried to start a detailing business a few years back but it didnt materialise, would love to persue it again.

Luckily for me my business is doing well, had plenty of customers so far! :D

Got the front end all machine polished and fully corrected, the paint is in excellent condition. Sealed the paint with CarPro CQUK ceramic quartz coating and DLUX on the plastic. Image below is a 50/50 of the DLUX. After leaving for around 5 mins I buffed the excess off to leave a uniform finish as you can see in the second pic:

Rest of the car will be sorted soon. Have to admit I'm loving the DSG box, especially in sport mode! :D

That looks great!! What polisher do you use? Assuming its a rotary?

Might have to look into the DLUX stuff. Does it last a while?

Ok so had the car in at Autohaus Edinburgh, VAG specialists and the ABS fault is a rear bearing/sensor so nothing major. They also diagnosed that the turbo is knackered, goes into limp mode as soon as you go above 3krpm which makes overtaking impossible. So I have ordered a remanufactured OE turbo and they will fit it next week hopefully as well as fixing the ABS fault. Altogether including labour I'm looking at around £700 to get the car working properly.

That's not good news about the turbo Rob, but at least it will be sorted. Guessing the previous owner knew about it hence the sale.

Yep, Mr meek and mild screwed me. My own fault for not fully test driving the car properly, I always show other people's cars mechanical sympathy and don't rev them hard, I should have with this one as it would have showed the turbo wasn't working and the car goes into limp mode every time you hit 3krpm.

I did get it cheap so after the repairs it will bring it up to what a good one would have cost.

Car is in Autohaus Edinburgh having the recon turbo fitted, ABS fault fixed (new rear bearing/sensor), DSG oil and filter changed and 2 new Hankook front tyres fitted to replace the odd cheap Chinese ditch-finders that are on there. Should have it back tomorrow.
