Rob,
Extremely sorry to hear about your loss. I almost lost my dad last year and it was hard...
Look at the bright side , he lived for 75+ years and at least he went in peace. At that age they don't want you mourning for them and when you get top 76 (hopefully you live as long if not longer) you wouldnt want your family mourning for you. Do not let it get you down mate...chin up , its Christmas :)

Sorry to hear this mate. there's never a good time to go. I lost my college mate wednesday morning in a car crash, only 18, an awsome agricultural engineer, great lad to be around.

As you say that's life. Time to try and move on.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad Rob. It's a very hard time I lost my dad when I was 12. He died of a brain haemorrhage too, We were visiting my auntie. My dad was working my parents had a pub at the time. When we got home at 11pm all the lights were on in the pub no glasses collected etc. Me and my mum went upstairs and thought he was asleep. We left him sleeping I went to bed and when my mum tried to wake him up she realised he was unconcious. I woke up from my mum screaming hysterically I thought it was a spider or something. He never woke up, I'll never forget that night as long as I live it was on christmas day of all days he was 36. He's gone but will never forgotten. But life goes on for the rest of us and time does heal. Keep your chin up mate.

Thanks all.

I am thinking of selling up in the spring. My Dad hated me driving a powerful car, always worried it would end up killing me. Given the high cost of fuel, road tax and insurance, I think the time has come to try and sell it.

Have been keeping an eye on your thread for ages but have never really commented. Are you thinking of selling or breaking, with the low prices of leon's at the moment wouldn't you make more breaking it (sadly)?

Rob, don't do it mate!

Too much blood, sweat and tears has gone into what this car has become!

Its not a powerful car that will kill you,it's irresponsible driving, someone elses bad driving or just a plain old accident that will, more often than not,my car has got me out of sticky situations and im glad the power is there when needed, the rest of the time it's sensible....

Keep it! It's a true credit to you! And while we're talking about it, let's see some recent pics of it!

Regards

Tom

It's not that I want to sell it, but I use it every day now and the cost of fuel, tax and insurance is very high. Hopefully things will improve for me before the springtime so I don't have to sell it but as of now I am quite strapped for money every month.

Rob it would be a big shame if you did sell the car but I know that needs must and all that.
Would it not be more efficient to take it off the road and run a banger for a bit to see you through this hard time?

Rob, boy in my work was in the same position with his supra, using as a daily runner costing fuel etc....we work at SMA in livingston and he bought a Toyota corolla, on a w plate I think, for £250, taxed and mot'd till next April from out scrap and salvage sale.....

Got a few wee dents and scrapes but a 1 lady owner car with Toyota s/h......mint for scooting about and £250 t&t cannae whack it wi a big stick....

Interior was spotless

That could be an option, sounds interesting.

Last night I totalled up the parts on my car, second-hand values, and they come to roughly £7k - so if I can't sell the entire car then it would definately be broken for parts.

I mean a rebuilt engine with forged rods, ported head, SEM manifold, Helix flywheel, Fluidampr, ARP, etc.etc. must be worth a fair bit, geabox with Quaife diff, Backdraft GT2860RS turbo kit (over £4k new!), KW V2 coilovers, Tarox 6-pot brakes, TD 1.2 rims with Yoko AD08 tyres, LCR interior, ECU with REVO stage 3 software, etc. etc. are all worth a fair bit (if I could get it all sold).
